The aircraft construction and equipment project is managed by the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA)[5][6]. The design of the aircraft is similar to the generation 4,5 fighters developed in the same period – the French Dassault Rafale and the Swedish Saab JAS 39 Gripen. After initial delays, production of Eurofighter began under three separate contracts (tranches), each of which concerns an aircraft with increasing combat capabilities. In 2008, the Eurofighter Typhoon was in service with the British RAF, the German Luftwaffe, the Spanish Ejército del Aire, the Italian Aeronautica Militare and the Austrian Air Force. In addition, Saudi Arabia has signed a contract worth about EUR 6,4 billion for the supply of 72 machines of this type.
