The first prototype was flown in 1931, while the first models were adopted by the army in 1933. In 1934, production of the P.11c variant was started, characterized by smaller improvements in the fuselage and wings. The P.11 aircraft is an all-metal structure with a distinctive airframe located at the top of the fuselage and an exposed pilot's cabin. The only surviving copy is in the Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow. The aircraft was also exported to Romania, where it bears the designation IAR P.11f.
