- Power supply: 3V – 2 AA/LR6 batteries.
- Voltmeter range: ±16 V, with an accuracy of ±0,5% +2 digits.
- Current load: max. 600A
- Length of measuring cable with clamp: 70cm ±1%
- Dimensions: (D/W/Sz) 280 x 195 x 80 mm, weight 1,8 kg.
Preparing the resistor for the battery test
- Check the status of the battery tester and its wires. Make sure they are in good condition and have no mechanical damage.
- Take care of a safe place to conduct the test. Avoid explosive gases and combustible materials!
- You do not need to check the battery status – the BLT600S resistor will do it for you.
- Your safety is paramount! Refer to the warning signs on the body of the resistor and follow them.
Connection of the load tester to the battery
- Connect the connector to any battery terminal (pillar, screw, etc.) and apply the resistor tip to the other pole. The test can be performed without the need for polarization. The terminal can be connected on both the positive and negative posts of the battery.
- Make sure the connections are strong and stable.
- The device will automatically excite as long as the voltage of the tested battery is higher than 1V, and then conduct an efficiency test.
- If the resting voltage of the battery is lower than 1V, you can manually turn on the tester by clicking the left button on the voltmeter panel.
- Before proceeding with the test under load, make sure that the tested battery is fully charged.
Selection of parameters and load range of the resistor.
- On the tester, select the appropriate current load range depending on the battery capacity:
12V: usually ranges 200A, 400A, 600A.
6V: usually ranges 100A, 200A, 300A.
- The choice of range is made using knobs on the resistor. The device has 3 circuits – each 200A for a 12V battery. For 6V battery testing, the resistance of 1 spring is 100A.
The first circuit of the resistor is permanently closed. By tightening the knob, you close the circuit by starting another winding. This increases the resistance by another 200A/100A.
Performing a load test – basic.
- Press the device to the terminal.
- Observe the voltage measurement on the display. The tester will subject the battery to the declared load.
- In the case of an efficient 12V battery – the voltage presented on the display should decrease and stabilize above 8,5V
- If the battery is malfunctioning, the voltage will drop in the 0V direction
The stress test should not last longer than 10s.
Performing a load test – semi-automatic.
- Press the left voltmeter button. On the display below the battery voltage, a time lapse bar will appear measuring 6 seconds, which will start to fill up when the tester is pressed.
- Press the device to the terminal.
- Observe the voltage measurement on the display. The tester will subject the battery to the declared load and inform the double beep about the completion of the test.
- Finish pressing the resistor – you can interrupt the connection with the terminal of the tested battery.
- After pressing the right button on the battery tester display, the graphical voltage waveform, maximum and minimum measured voltage and the measured voltage difference will be presented.
- The load test lasts 6 seconds – after this time the tester will inform about the completion of the data collection stage. After exceeding 9s, an audible alarm is activated.
Turn off the tester and disconnect the wires.
- Before disconnecting the BLT600S battery tester, remember that the resistance windings are hot. Touching them can cause burns. Take care of your safety!
- Release the connection by detaching the resistor tip from the terminal, and then detach the terminal from the battery.
- Put the device in a safe place. Avoid contact of the heated surface of the resistor with flammable gases and materials!
- The device will turn off automatically after 4 minutes from the last activity (pressing any of the buttons or taking a measurement). It is possible to manually turn off the tester by pressing the right button (>1s) longer.
Analysis of results and completion of work.
- Compare the results with the recommended values of the battery manufacturer.
- If necessary, hand over the battery for further diagnosis or replacement.
- Store the tester in a dry and safe place, away from heat and moisture sources.
BLT600S load battery tester – what distinguishes it?
- Action versatility: BLT600S allows you to test batteries with both 6V, and 12V load 100A /200A/ 300A (6V) or 200A /400A /600A (12V).
- Power supply with two AA batteries (LR6): The use of popular AA batteries provides easy access to power and saves time and operating costs.
- Automatic switch-on when input voltage is detected: The tester starts automatically when connected to the test battery, saving the user time.
- Automatic shutdown (APO): The function saves batteries by automatically shutting down the device after four minutes of inactivity.
- Selftest of the measuring system: The tester automatically checks its systems after commissioning, which guarantees correct operation and reliability of measurements.
- Sound signaling: BLT600S informs the user about the beginning and end of the test, and if the recommended time is exceeded, triggers an audible alarm.
- Two-way load test: The possibility of testing regardless of the method of connection to the battery terminals, which increases the convenience of work.
Distinctive technical parameters of the resistor:
- Aluminum body with thick walls: The high temperature capacity of the body allows for longer operation without the risk of overheating the tester.
- Extended and low profile: Allows you to work in hard-to-reach places, increasing the stability of the device.
- 25mm² connection cable: Ensures safe conduction of high current, which increases the durability of the cable and the efficiency of the device.
- Modular resistance springs: Thanks to the possibility of tightening the springs, the user adjusts the load, which allows testing different battery capacities.
- Unique serial number: Each tester has an individual number, which helps to identify the device and increases security.
Distinguishing features of load tester software:
- Advanced Voltmeter Module: Graphically presents a voltage waveform graph, and also records key parameters such as voltage without load, under load and voltage drop, which facilitates the interpretation of the results.
- Precision and average modes: The tester offers the ability to work in precision mode with refresh rates 8 times per second or in average mode (average of 4 measurements), which stabilizes the displayed results.
- Summary of parameters before switching off: Before turning off, the device presents a table with six key parameters, giving a complete overview of the tester's work.
- Operating mode and battery status icons: Visual indicators indicate the current operating mode and battery level, which increases the user experience.
- Graphic and audible signaling of the test time: The progress bar and audible signals indicate the 6-second duration of the test, then alert when the recommended time is exceeded. This is to maintain repeatability of measurement procedures.
Distinctive mechanical functions of the load tester:
The BLT600S battery load tester is not only a manual resistor – it is a comprehensive solution that facilitates work in workshops.
The SecureSpring mechanism is an advanced spring system used in the BLT600S, designed for optimal and safe operation during battery testing.
The key element of this mechanism is a specially selected spring with a precisely defined hardness, which:
- Minimizes pressure on the poles of the battery: The spring puts optimal resistance. Less pressure is needed to close the circuit, which affects the state of the battery poles during measurements.
- Provides smooth operation of the actuator: SecureSpring enables smooth and stable movements during operation of the device, which reduces slipping of the tip during operation.
- Increases the comfort of work: Thanks to the appropriate spring hardness, the operation of the device is more ergonomic, requiring less physical effort on the part of the user.
- Increases device reliability: Thanks to SecureSpring, the tester works more efficiently, longer and with less risk of damage, which translates into greater durability of the entire system.
This device increases diagnostic confidence and provides precise measurements. Thanks to its advanced features, robust construction and attention to detail, the BLT600S is indispensable in the daily work of professionals.
