The advantage of this support plate is very well-designed ventilation channels with a large cross-sectional area. They are made radially in a flexible polyurethane layer, directly under the adhesive layer, the so-called Velcro. They are connected to large ventilation holes and by catching air during the rotation of the plate, they effectively cool the polishing pads on the Velcro side, protecting them from coming apart. A huge advantage of this solution is also the separation of the pad from the heat generated by the bearings of the eccentric mechanism.
