The high-quality Ground Zero amplifier from the Uranium GZUA 4SQ series is a four-channel power amplifier with reference ambitions that has undergone a refresh and redesign.

Externally, the new SQ amplifiers - still looks quite similar to its predecessor, but a lot has happened under the titanium-colored anodized housing.

It's only 48mm tall, with an elegant brushed aluminum back, and it just looks great.

Inside the amplifier you can see many references from the Reference line. These improved new multi-channel amplifiers still use the best Burr-Brown® components for the cleanest signal amplification with the lowest distortion, WIMA® capacitors and many other SQ parts from their predecessors, but that's not all... They feature high-end Sanken ® Darlington power transistors and a massive heatsink for heat dissipation.

The entire front is full of connection terminals as well as control elements and switches, cinch sockets impress with their elegant design and solid mounting.

In this class, the richness of the controls is not explained by frills, rather only high-pass and low-pass can be set, but they can be turned on and off independently, and thanks to x10 multiplier switches in the range from 20 to 4000 Hz.

Further potentiometers are hidden discreetly on the bottom and are responsible for the bias control that the SQ amplifiers inherited from the Reference series.

Using these potentiometers, you can adjust the gain operating point and thus influence the sound.

GZUA 4SQ sounds both dynamic and musical. It can be very accurate in reproducing music while offering a wonderfully smooth flow of play. The listener has no problem with catching subtleties and, for example, discovering new details in some recordings, but it never sounds analytical or even insightful.

Thanks to the large power reserves, dynamics is also a definite strength of the GZUA 4SQ , thanks to which drum beats or synthesizers suddenly bring a smile to the listener's face. On the other hand, we record very sensitive handling of soft tones, as well as particularly beautiful voices in all shades. If the bias control is turned to Class AB, it feels like the playing is extremely crisp and lively, in the Class A position it gets a bit rounder and more homely - a pleasant sound. The differences are not big, but the bias potentiometers give good setting options.
