The Zigbee DMD20CO gateway is the central component of the Smart Home system, which connects compatible Zigbee devices to the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. It allows convenient control of sensors, thermostatic heads, lighting, sockets, relays, roller shutter controllers and other devices compatible with the Tuya ecosystem.

All connected devices can be operated from a single application on your phone. The gateway allows you to check their status, change settings and create intelligent scenes and automations, e.g.:

• turning on the light when motion is detected,
• closing the valve after detecting flooding,
• starting heating after a temperature drop,
• sending a notification after opening the door or window,
• automatic control of devices at specified times.

This is a practical basis for creating an extensive smart home system without the need for several separate applications.

Stable LAN or Wi‑Fi connection and three antennas

The Zigbee DMD20CO can connect to the router in two ways: wired via the LAN RJ45 port or wirelessly via the Wi‑Fi 2,4 GHz network. The LAN connection ensures high transmission stability, while Wi‑Fi allows you to position the gateway in a convenient place without conducting an additional network cable. Three external antennas support wireless communication and help you get better coverage than in small gates with an antenna hidden inside the enclosure. This is especially useful in larger apartments, bunk houses and with more appliances.

The gateway also offers the Wi‑Fi Repeater 2,4 GHz function, thanks to which it can act as a wireless network amplifier. In the application, you can set the name and password of the network you are creating. The device is also equipped with:

Automation, remote operation and signal quality control

When you connect your gateway to the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, you can manage compatible Zigbee devices from anywhere with internet access. It is possible to create schedules, scenes, dependencies between devices and automatic responses to specific events.

Zigbee communication is characterized by low power consumption, which is why it works well in sensors and battery-powered devices. Zigbee network devices can create a Mesh structure in which compatible powered components continuously help transmit the signal further, increasing the stability and range of the entire installation.

The DMD20CO also allows:

• checking the quality of the Zigbee signal of the selected device in the application,
• assessment of whether the device should be moved closer to the gate,
• moving devices to a new gateway using the “Replace a damaged gateway” function,
• local operation of Zigbee devices and selected dependencies also during a temporary lack of internet.

An internet connection is required to remotely operate the system in the app, but Zigbee devices can still perform local functions stored in the system.

Wi-Fi Repeater Function in Zigbee 3.0 Gateway

The 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal boosting function in this Zigbee 3.0 gateway significantly improves connection quality and stability in your home. Thanks to this feature, the gateway effectively extends your network's range, providing better signal coverage throughout your home.

How to Enable Repeater Function?

Activating the signal boosting function is easy with just a few simple steps. In the app, click the gear icon in the top right corner, then select the "2.4G Wi-Fi Switch" function. Enter a new name and password for your Wi-Fi network, and you're done.

Your Zigbee gateway now also acts as a repeater for your Wi-Fi network.

Simple setup and complete set

Installing the Zigbee Tuya gateway is quick and requires no complicated setup. Simply screw on three antennas, connect the USB‑C power supply, and then choose how to communicate with your router.

With a wired configuration, connect the LAN cable, launch the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app and select the Gateway Control – Compound Gateway option. With wireless configuration, Wi‑Fi mode, 2,4 GHz network and password are selected. Hold the reset button for about 5 to 7 seconds until the LED flashes.
