The Tuya Wi-Fi sensors from BAREX are equipped with an optical (photoelectric) sensor that detects smoke generated during a slow smoldering fire (e.g. ignition of upholstery, cable, paper). They react to airborne smoke – they are not designed to detect an intense source of smoke from a very close distance (e.g. lighter, incense stick or lit paper in a small amount).

Sensors of this type need a few or several seconds of constant contact with smoke to cross the sensitivity threshold and trigger an alarm – this is intentional to prevent false alarms (e.g. when cooking or lighting a candle).

⚠ ATTENTION! Check the sensor type before buying! This model works in WiFi technology (WiFi: 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n) - connects directly to your router, does not require a Zigbee gateway. If you need the Zigbee version, check out our other offers.

❓ Does the sensor detect cigarette smoke or e-cigarettes?

⚠ The sensor is designed to detect fire hazards and dense smoke generated during combustion.
