Samyang AF 60 – 180 mm F2.8 FE – lightweight telezoom for photographers and filmmakers developed in collaboration with Schneider-Kreuznach

Samyang presents the AF 60 to 180 mm F2.8 FE lens – a compact telezoom designed for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras. Developed together with Schneider-Kreuznach, this new lens combines a versatile 60 to 180 mm focal length range, constant F2.8 brightness and an extremely lightweight design with a weight of only about 730 g.

Designed for creators who expect professional image quality without the size and weight of traditional 70 – 200 mm F2.8 lenses, the AF 60 – 180 mm F2.8 FE offers the range, speed and performance necessary for everyday photography and film work. From portraits and wedding photography to travel, events, sports photography and detail shots, the lens gives photographers and filmmakers more freedom to work while reducing the weight of the equipment they carry.

Thanks to the optimized 60 to 180 mm focal range, the lens covers the most commonly used telephoto focal length, while maintaining the characteristic telephoto perspective compression at the longest focal length. The fixed aperture of the F2.8 guarantees consistent exposure across the entire zoom range and full control over depth of field. Thanks to this, the lens is perfect when working in low light, allows you to effectively separate the photographed object from the background and allows smooth filming without changes in exposure during zoom changes ( zoom)

The AF 60 to 180 mm F2.8 FE also offers very good close-up shooting capabilities. The minimum sharpening distance is only 0,35 m at a focal length of 60 mm, and the maximum magnification reaches 0,26x. This allows for effective shooting of dishes, products, flowers or small details. This allows the lens to go beyond typical telezoomal applications and become a versatile tool for photographers and filmmakers alike.

To ensure high image quality over the entire focusing distance range, the lens is equipped with a floating focus system. This solution helps maintain high image sharpness from minimum focusing distance to infinity, minimizing the decrease in optical quality. The optical design consists of 17 elements in 14 groups, including 1 HR lens, 7 ED lenses and 2 aspherical elements, which allows you to effectively reduce aberrations and achieve a high level of image detail.

The Linear STM motor is responsible for fast, precise and quiet focusing, which works well both during shooting and filming. The lens is also equipped with an AF/MF switch for instant mode change, a smooth-running focus ring for manual adjustment, a zoom lock for increased safety during transport, and a USB port for convenient firmware updates.

The new telezoom is designed to work in demanding conditions. Sealed design provides protection against dust, moisture, light rain and snow. In addition, the use of a newly developed high-strength material allowed to maintain the durability of the structure while reducing the weight of the lens.

The AF 60 to 180 mm F2.8 FE joins the AF 14 to 24 mm F2.8 FE and AF 24 to 60 mm F2.8 FE models to form the Samyang compact zoom series. Together, the three lenses provide smooth coverage of the focal range from 14 mm to 180 mm at constant F2.8 brightness, offering creators a complete, lightweight and mobile system for photography and filming.
