Advanced optical design

G line lenses are distinguished by a refined, uncompromising optical design. This telezoome uses 6 ED glass lenses, which give excellent resolution throughout the focal range. The internal focusing system improves lens performance, giving you an even faster and more efficient AF system. The entire optical design of the lens consists of 27 lenses in 19 groups. 11-leaf, circular aperture enables obtaining circular blur discs in the area of blurriness. In this lens, it was also possible to suppress internal reflections, to deliver images free of glare and sprites. Chromatic aberrations have also been effectively reduced, resulting in sharp and detailed images.

Short minimum sharpening distance

With a focal length of 400 mm, the minimum sharpening distance is only 1,7 m, while at 800 mm this value is 3,5 m. In combination with the maximum magnification of 0,23x, it is possible to achieve great image plasticity and easy framing. So you can freely plan the composition or react quickly to what is happening in front of the lens. In this lens, it was possible to effectively minimize the breathing effect, to ensure adequate performance during filming. In addition, the lens is compatible with digital respiratory compensation available in compatible camera models.

Instant AF system

Ulta fast, precise and quiet AF system is an indispensable thing in every telezoom. How few telephoto optics need to be prepared to deal with the most dynamic scenes. That is why this model uses as many as 2 linear motors, which guarantee silent, precise and immediate focusing. This lens gives you performance that allows you to use focus tracking up to 120 fps. /s in serial mode with A9 III body. The AF system also works ultra-efficiently during filming, being compatible with slow motion, allowing you to supplement photos with video material, showing e.g. diving kingfishers or hanging in the air kestrels.

Focus limiter switch

Adjust the focus to the scene. The focus range limiter prevents sharpening on an object at an unintended distance by selecting a pre-set focus range. This solution helps to increase the speed of AF and facilitates proper response. It is also possible to use the new "far" mode, which starts from 8 m instead of 10, improving efficiency when photographing wildlife and birds. The lens also has a Full-time DMF (Direct Manual Focus) switch, giving you access to quickly turn Full Time DMF on and off without having to look at the camera menu.
