SONOFF SenseGuard Motion Gen2 SNZB-03PR2 is a wireless PIR motion sensor using Zigbee 3.0 technology.

The device detects movement based on infrared radiation emitted by moving objects, and can then trigger automations, lighting, alarms, cameras or notifications in the smart home system.

The sensor detects movement in time up to about 3 seconds, and the re-release time can be adjusted from 5 to 60 seconds.

⭐PIR motion sensor

Shorter detection time can increase the number of messages sent by the sensor and reduce battery life.

⭐Built-in light intensity sensor

The SNZB-03PR2 features an independent light sensor that measures ambient brightness in lux.

Thanks to this, automation can take into account not only the movement, but also the level of lighting.

Example automation

If the sensor detects movement and the light intensity is lower than 50 lx, turn on the light for 3 minutes.

This solution prevents the lighting from turning on during the day, when the room is already bright enough. The sensor can also record light intensity history up to 6 months.

⭐ ZigBee protocol

What distinguishes ZigBee from classic WiFi is a sufficiently long working time of battery-powered devices (unattainable with the classic WiFi protocol) and signal transmission through accessories powered by 230V.

In addition, selected ZigBee devices (230V mains powered) become part of the Mesh network. This means that if a module is unable to connect directly to the ZigBee gateway, it communicates with it through another closest accessory of this system. The repater in the ZigBee ecosystem are devices powered by 230V, such as PSMART, Aqara, OXT Zigbee relay, Sonoff ZigBee, TUYA, 230V sockets or bulbs.
