The door and window opening sensor with a built-in alarm siren allows you to monitor the opening of doors, windows, gates, cabinets and other home or office equipment. When the reed switches are disconnected, the device triggers an audible alarm with a volume of up to 80 dB and can send a notification to the phone app.

The device communicates directly with your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, so it does not require an additional gateway. All settings and remote control are available via the free Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. The alarm can be armed or disarmed from the app or by pressing the button on the device housing.

The set includes an alarm module and a reed switch placed on a cable approximately 24 cm long, which facilitates installation in places where the use of a standard sensor would be difficult. When the reed switches are separated by a distance of approximately 12 mm, the alarm siren is activated, and when the elements are brought closer together again, the alarm is automatically switched off. The sensor also works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, making it an element of a smart home system.

Dimensions and installation

The opening sensor measures 90 × 26 × 21 mm. Directly from the housing comes out a reed on a cable with a total length of about 24 cm – the cable is about 21 cm, and the 28 mm reed element placed at its end.

The sensor assembly is quick and requires no drilling. Double-sided tape is included to attach the alarm module, while both elements of the reed already have pre-glued mounting tapes.

The product is intended for internal use only and should not be exposed to rain, moisture or other weather conditions.

Tuya home screen and preview

Once the device is added to the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, the main screen displays the battery level, the current status of the reed switch (open/closed) and a lock icon, which is used to arm and disarm the alarm.

For the siren to sound, the alarm must be armed – a closed padlock is then visible on the screen. When the padlock remains open, disconnecting the reed switches will not trigger the alarm.

The main screen also includes a history of events, which m.in : arming and disarming the alarm, opening and closing the sensor, as well as starting and ending the alarm. This makes it easy to see when and why the device was activated.

Adjust the alarm operation to your needs

In the application settings, you can specify the duration of the alarm from 5 to 180 seconds and set its volume in the range from 0 to 100%. This allows you to adjust the way the siren works to the mounting location.

There are four signaling modes to choose from: sound and light, only sound, only light or mute mode.

The application also allows you to enable or disable separate notifications about opening the door, closing the door, low battery and triggering the alarm. Previous events are recorded in the history along with the time of their occurrence.

Smart scenes and automation

The sensor can be used as part of automation in the Tuya Smart and Smart Life apps. Detecting the opening or closing of the door can start selected devices or perform a previously prepared scene.

m.in can be used as a condition for automation. door sensor status, battery level, alarm time, alarm volume and device status. This makes it easy to create your own smart home scenarios.

For example, opening the door can automatically turn on the lighting, open the blinds, start other Tuya devices or send a notification to the phone. All scenes can be freely edited and adapted to your needs.
