Thanks to the magnetic field, this railway has no contact with the track surface, because it practically constantly hovers over it (at low speeds, wheels are necessary, because then too little force is induced, insufficient to keep the train in the track). Electromagnets made of superconductors (in Japan) or conventional electroconductors (in Germany) as well as electrodynamic levitation (EDS) using permanent magnets are used to accomplish this task[2]. Vehicles can develop high speeds. Thanks to the use of magnets, wheel friction is eliminated, which in traditional trains significantly limits the maximum speed of travel. Above all, however, the problem of wheel-rail dynamics is avoided, where there are resonant phenomena limiting the safe speed range. Thanks to this, magnetic railways are approaching 600 km/h (the world record at speed belongs to the Japanese version of the train; it was reached on 21 April 2015 and is 603 km/h[3], so it is 28,2 km/h larger than the TGV record set on 3 April 2007).
