The module is used to charge the battery of the caravan.
The module ensures that the optimal voltage level of the caravan battery is maintained by properly recharging it from the car battery. The module is designed to work with a 13-pin socket, it can also be used with 7-pin modules and ordinary 7-pin beams after replacing the socket with a 13-pin one.
The device is used in power supply systems for caravans, campers and for devices powered by additional batteries, e.g. audio-video equipment, tourist refrigerators, etc. The module can be used to upgrade an existing towbar installation as an extension for connecting a caravan.
The principle of operation of the module consists in charging the trailer battery only after starting the engine, when the voltage in the car installation exceeds 13,3V. This is to prevent the main battery from being discharged when the car is stationary with the engine off, which would prevent the engine from restarting. Charging the trailer battery may also be interrupted during engine operation at slow speed when the car battery is discharged or in the case of a high current load (different receivers) in the car installation. In this way, the TCBM-Sender module prevents damage and discharge of the main battery.
