Sigma ART 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM for Sigma SA is a new generation lens that perfectly combines excellent image quality, combined with the light offered by fixed focal length lenses and the versatility of zoom lenses. The offered focal range covers frequently used values of 80mm, 105mm and 150 mm. It is a great complement to the well-known lens with a standard focal range of 18-35/1.8 DC HSM.

This is the Sigma A 50-100 mm f/1.8 DC HSM lens. The assumption of the engineers of Sigma Corporation was to provide users of cameras with APS-C matrix with the ability to work on a wide focal length, maintaining the aperture value, previously unavailable from any manufacturer.

Advanced design

The lens uses 21 lenses arranged in 15 groups. Among them there are many elements such as SLD and FLD whose properties are similar to fluorite. The 9-leaf circular aperture with a minimum value of f/1.8 enables natural blurring of blurred areas of the image and provides eye-pleasing image plasticity. A useful solution, not only for cinematographers, is constant image sharpness when changing focal lengths. By changing the angle of view of the lens, there is no need to re-sharpen. The lens housing is made of metal and thermally stable composite. In order to increase the strength of the aperture mechanism, it is made of durable polycarbonate and carbon fiber. The autofocus drive is supported by a new, optimized ultrasonic HSM engine, which allows manual corrections without the need to switch modes.

The Sigma 50-100mm DC HSM lens uses a 9-leaf circular aperture with a minimum value of f/1.8. This solution allows natural blurring of blurred areas of the photo, and provides eye-pleasing image plasticity.

Thanks to the use of internal focusing, the lens does not change its length during sharpening and focal changes. The housing of the Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM ART lens is made of metal and thermally stable composite.
