SIGMA DIGITAL C 56/1.4 DC DN | The smallest medium telephoto lens in its class with excellent optical quality.

Developed for everyday use, the lightweight and compact 56/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens delivers superior optical quality comparable to the full-frame ART series.

This is the third lens for mirrorless cameras with an APS-C sensor (micro 4/3) and F/1.4 light. With its small size, it is ideal for everyday use, allowing you to capture a wide variety of scenes from portraits to street or night photography.

Sigma 56/1.4 DC DN is based on the success of the first 30/1.4 DC DN lens released in 2016 and 16/1.4 DC DN Contemporary released in 2017. These three lenses create a complete system for mirrorless camera users, allowing you to take photos from wide shots to portrait shots.

High optical quality

The use of the latest technology in the design of this lens resulted in the achievement of the highest image quality, comparable to the full-frame Art series, while maintaining compact dimensions. The lens design consists of 10 elements in 6 groups, including

one SLD element (low dispersion) which ensures perfect correction of all kinds of aberrations. The lens provides sharp and contrasting images even on the maximum open aperture of F1.4.

Already in the early stages of the lens design process, flares and blocks are measured to test the resistance of the optical mechanism to strong light sources. The special multi-layer coating reduces flares and blaze to allow photographers to take sharp photos even in difficult lighting.

Complementing the image quality is a 9-leaf, rounded aperture thanks to which we get a pleasant image plasticity that generates smooth gradation and minimizes the formation of streaks.

Brass bayonet mount combines high quality workmanship with durability. Its surface is subjected to special reinforcement treatment to ensure high quality of the lens, guaranteeing long-term use.

Each unit is characterized by the highest functionality thanks to the proprietary Sigma A1 MTF measurement system.

There are three requirements for creating exceptional lenses: great design, precise workmanship and control to ensure compliance with specifications. SIGMA lenses are born from thoughtful designs and sophisticated, advanced Japanese technology. The final step is to evaluate the work. We used to measure the performance of lenses using conventional sensors. However, we have now created our own A1* MTF system (modulation transfer function), using 46-megapixel Foveon matrices. With this system, we check every lens from the new lines at the Aizu factory, our only lens manufacturing site. Previously undetectable high-frequency details are now under control, enabling us to deliver lenses of consistently highest quality.
