Plasmacluster technology

This is a unique air purification technology that sets Sharp purifiers apart from the competition and makes them unbeatable. None of the companies producing air purifiers can boast in their products technology that would match or even be similar to the one of the Sharp products.

Thanks to this technology, the Sharp purifier effectively fights such contaminants as viruses (including influenza viruses), bacteria, fungi, molds, pollen, mites, as well as limits the occurrence of unpleasant odors. The special benefit of using a purifier in this technology is enjoyed by people allergic to inhaled allergies.

Plasmacluster technology involves the operation of a positive and negative ion generator and belongs to the group of active air purification methods. Its effectiveness is very high and confirmed by numerous studies of internationally recognized research institutions, Sharp has been developing this technology for nearly 20 years. In purifiers, Sharp is no less important than passive air purification methods, consisting in the use of air flow through HEPA or carbon filters.

The purifier in this technology works in such a way that the built-in ion generator ejects a dense cloud of positive and negative ions, which, sprayed with great force around the room, propagate in the air and connect with the particles encountered, neutralizing and neutralizing them. The device emits both positive and negative ions in equal proportions. There are devices on the market equipped with ionizers, but generating only negative ions, which is a completely different technology and incomparably less effective. Plasmacluster technology is the only one that effectively mimics nature, the identical process of generating positive and negative ions takes place in nature. Studies have shown that ions produced in Plasmacluster technology are identical to those produced in nature.

HEPA filter H13

The HEPA filter in Sharp purifiers next to Plasmacluster technology is the kernel of the purification system. Please note that Sharp uses filters marked with the symbol H13. The HEPA filters marked with this symbol retain 99,97% of particles with a diameter of 0.3 um (micrometer). So they will successfully deal with PM 2.5 dust (dust diameter, as the name suggests, is 2.5 micrometers, more than 8 larger than the filter capabilities), especially with larger PM 10 dust (diameter 10 micrometers). For comparison, the HEPA filter marked EPA E12, i.e. a filter one category worse, retains only 95,5% of such particles. So it is worth paying attention to what kind of HEPA filter is in the purifier and choose the best one, i.e. HEPA H13. In addition to filtering dust, HEPA H13 will effectively fight most bacteria, some larger viruses, pollen, mold and fungi.

The HEPA filter, as shown in the picture next to it, looks like it was made of paper, but in fact it is an advanced polyester-glass composite that has been compressed and folded into a harmonica, thanks to which its filtering surface has increased many times. The HEPA filters are not cleaned (you can only vacuum gently on one side), they should be replaced from time to time - in this model of purifier every 10 years at most.

Carbon filter with activated carbon and silica sorbent

It is a type of filter that is designed to fight unpleasant odors, fumes, as well as particularly dangerous to health volatile organic compounds, sometimes taking the form of gases, e.g. benzene, formaldehyde and benzo(a)pyrene. Activated carbon, obtained in the process of annealing carbon at high temperature with limited air access, is characterized by a huge absorption surface. Silica sorbent has made this filter particularly useful in areas with contaminants from the movement of motor vehicles, as it retains nitrogen oxides and sulphur.

This filter should be cleaned periodically by vacuuming it using a soft tip. It cannot be washed under water. Its durability is up to 10 years from the moment the filter is opened.

Pre-filter, mesh

Stops the largest contaminants (max. about 240 microns) such as dust, hair, hair. After just a week or two, a noticeable layer of dust will collect on its surface, which must be removed to clear the air flow. The best way to do this is to use a vacuum cleaner with a soft tip.

For many people who start using an air purifier, it is quite a surprise how much dust has floated in the air and accumulated on the filter. Thanks to the mesh filter, large impurities do not get further, to the next level of cleaning, i.e. to the HEPA filter, thus extending its service life.

Humidifier filter

It is also an evaporative mat from which water evaporates naturally. This filter retains impurities in the water, in particular minerals (stone), thanks to which purified water molecules enter the air. It is absolutely necessary to take care of the cleanliness of the filter as well as the entire water container, periodically cleaning these elements as described in the instruction manual. Regular maintenance guarantees humidification with clean water molecules, as well as extends the life of the filter itself. For users who have extremely hard water in their homes, we recommend using water filtered with reverse osmosis filters or with filter jugs, e.g. Brita companies. The maximum life of the humidifier filter is 10 years from the moment of unpacking.

In this purifier, as in others from the "G" series, the manufacturer has strengthened the material from which the evaporative mats are made, thanks to which the filter is more durable and allows it to be cleaned more thoroughly. The mat can be removed from the housing and rinsed thoroughly by hand (there was no such possibility in the "D" series models, which can only be rinsed in the housing).
