Application of jumper cables

Starter cables are designed to assist start-up with a discharged battery using the current drawn from the battery of another vehicle.

• 200A starter cables are designed to start gasoline engines with a capacity of up to 900cc
• 400A starter cables are designed to start gasoline engines with a capacity of up to 1400cc
• 600A starter cables are designed to start gasoline engines with a capacity of up to 2000cc
• to start diesel engines use cables from 600 - 1800A

Safety when using jumper cables.

• the hoses shall be so arranged as to prevent contact with the moving parts of the engine
• insulation of wires should not be damaged, as it may cause a short circuit with the mass of the vehicle, which may lead to a fire
• gearbox levers on both vehicles shall be in the clearance position
• attach the red "+" terminal of the jumper cable to the "+" terminal of the vehicle battery supporting the start-up
• put the black "-" terminal of the starting cable on the terminal "-" of the discharged battery and the other end of the cable "-" on the terminal "-" of the battery of the vehicle from which the current will be drawn
• start the starter of the vehicle with a discharged battery for no more than 3-5 seconds
• if the vehicle engine is not started, the test shall be repeated several times, observing that there are intervals of about 1 minute between tests
• if after several times the attempt to start the vehicle does not bring the result, the vehicle should be handed over for repair
• The jumper cables shall be disconnected in the opposite order than when fitted.
