MERKUR was founded in the Czech Republic in 1920 and has been manufacturing traditional construction toys for over 100 years. MERKUR toys not only develop construction skills, but stimulate creativity, imagination, fine motor skills and many other important features and skills. Access to modern technology 100 years ago was not as common as today, which is why most of the toy making machines at the MERKUR factory were produced by the founders themselves. Interestingly, these machines can still be found in the MERKUR factory, and some of them are still working. The factory is currently being modernized. New production technologies are being introduced. The MERKUR offer includes a wide selection of traditional RETRO sets and many modern construction sets. MERKUR makes sure that the charm of traditional products combined with modern technology becomes close to the younger generations.

MERKUR pays special attention to the environment, constantly looking for and implementing ecological solutions towards diversified development and neural management in terms of carbon dioxide emissions. This policy concerns 3 main sectors. The first is packaging and promotional materials. Since 2022, product catalogues have been printed on recycled paper and packaging does not contain plastic. The second sector in which the green tomorrow plays a big role is the machine park. The company strives to modernize and innovate change to reduce the number of machines, reduce the cost of energy consumption and operating fluids. Even the paint used in the paint shop is recyclable, which reduces its consumption by more than 70%. The last area is closely related to the previous two, as it concerns energy. Fewer machines with higher efficiency, it saves not only labor, but mainly energy and water, which has a beneficial effect on a clean environment.
