Philips offers highly reliable PL-S lamps with a narrow wavelength range from 305 to 315 nm that peak at 311 nm. Thanks to this, the lamps are suitable for m.in phototherapy.

Applications :

UVB radiation is an effective remedy for m.in. on:

• Psoriasis, vitiligo,
• Atopic dermatitis
• Seborrheic dermatitis,
• Seborrheic and persistent droplet psoriasis
• Other types of eczema including hand eczema,
• Multiform light exanthematous (preventively for hardening the skin),
• Inflammation of pink Gibert's dandruff,
• Pityriasis lichenoides (Przyłuszczyca),
• T-cell skin lymphoma - Fungal granuloma (early stage),
• Acne,
• Hepatic pruritus
• Eczema
• Renal urea pruritus
• Other rare diseases.

It emits UV-B radiation, which is harmful to the eyes. Hence only available for medical and industrial purposes

Phototherapy:

Phototherapy (or phototherapy) can be used by people who, in normal contact with the sun, experience a deterioration of psoriasis. This is due to the fact that in the case of dermatological exposures, UV rays are selected. UVB radiation is much safer than UVA. Therefore, they can be successfully used in pregnant women, children or people with severely ill liver or cataracts. UVB radiation is absorbed primarily by the epidermis itself; thanks to this, it is possible to eliminate psoriatic symptoms. Phototherapy can be used both on larger areas of the body and on specified areas (e.g. skin of hands, head, face). The procedure is usually well tolerated by patients and safe. 85% of patients with psoriasis respond to UVB and they constitute the largest group undergoing phototherapy. UVB therapy should be consulted with a dermatologist.
