The Canon EOS R8 body is a mirrorless full-frame camera designed for users looking for a balance between image quality, autofocus performance, and advanced movie features. The device combines a compact housing with a large, full-frame sensor, providing a wide dynamic range, low digital noise and a small depth of field characteristic of a full frame.

The heart of the camera is a full-frame CMOS sensor with a resolution of 24,2 megapixels, which works with the DIGIC X image processor. This configuration allows continuous shooting at up to 40 frames per second using an electronic shutter. The standard ISO sensitivity range is from 100 to 102400, expandable, making it easy to work in a variety of lighting conditions.

The camera uses a Canon RF lens mount. The body is designed with ergonomics in mind, has a fully movable, 3-inch LCD touch screen and an electronic OLED viewfinder.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system

One of the key features of the EOS R8 is the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II autofocus system. Based on deep machine learning algorithms, this system provides precise and fast tracking of objects throughout the frame, even in very low light (up to -6,5 EV).

Autofocus is able to automatically detect and track a wide range of objects, including:

• People (eyes, faces, heads, silhouettes)
• Animals (dogs, cats, horses, birds, including in flight)
• Vehicles (cars, motorcycles, trains, planes)

This system works effectively both during shooting and filming, predicting the movement of objects and maintaining sharpness even after they are temporarily obscured.

Film Functions

Canon EOS R8 offers advanced video capabilities. The camera records 4K UHD video at speeds up to 60p, using oversampling data from 6K resolution, which translates into high image detail. Full HD recording mode is also available at speeds up to 180p, allowing you to achieve slow motion effects.

For professional video post-production, the camera provides a Canon Log 3 color profile that maximizes the dynamic range of the material. Built-in support tools for filmmakers include false color exposure signaling, focus peaking, and zebra stripes. The camera does not have matrix stabilization (IBIS), but offers digital film stabilization (Movie Digital IS).

Connectivity and connections

The camera is equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless communication modules, making it easy to transfer files to computers, mobile devices and the image cloud service. canon . The UVC/UAC function allows you to use your camera as a high-quality webcam when connected to a PC or Mac, without the need to install additional drivers.

Physical interfaces include 3.5mm audio connectors (microphone in and headphone out), a USB-C port, and a single UHS-II-compliant SD memory card slot.
