Incredibly fast AF system operation

There is no doubt that the new Sony a6400 is distinguished by an extensive automatic focusing module and the use of technologies used in well-known and appreciated full-frame cameras. Among the models from which inspiration was drawn are: a9, a7R III and a7 II. The autofocus module uses 425 contrast-detected AF fields and 425 phase-detected fields. These fields cover about 84% of the frame, thus allowing sharpening on almost any element visible in the viewfinder. The combination of such an extensive AF module with an imaging processor with enormous processing power - BIONZ X results in fast focusing, which can last only 0.02 s. Such efficient sharpening allows you to keep the photographed object in depth of field, even when moving at high speed.

Real-time Eye AF and Real-time Tracking

Among the excellent solutions introduced is also "Real-time Eye Autofocus" - the development of Sony Eye AF technology. Its smooth operation is possible thanks to the use of artificial intelligence, which recognizes the eyes of the object and analyzes their location in real time. The great advantage of this solution is the fact that the photographer can focus all his attention on the composition of the shot, and entrust focusing to the camera. Video content is saved in 4K resolution (3840 x 2160), however, the camera analyzes all pixels without grouping and then converts the image to 4K resolution. Filming enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the a6400 has optimized Fast Hybrid AF technology that allows you to track an object even when it is temporarily obscured by another object.

The camera also includes image profiles, including HLG - designed for use with Instant HDR mode. You can also use the S-Log 2 and S-Log3 gamma curves, which increase the possibilities of material processing in post-process and zebra functions. All this makes movies played on a 4K HDR TV look like they were shot with a professional film camera rather than a camera that fits in your pocket.
