A detailed assembly diagram is included in the harness kit. The electrical wires are plugged into an electrical outlet. The wires are split on the left and right sides of the vehicle and placed in PVC conduits. Thanks to this, the installer saves working time when connecting the electric set.

The bundle has no functions other than those mentioned above.

Each towbar of the manufacturer from Słupsk has EU approval . As a result, it can be used throughout the European Union without risk in the event of a diagnostic or police control. The data plate is placed on the base of the hook's electrical socket.

EU approval proves the high quality of the product. To obtain it, the towbar must pass a special test which consists in checking their strength at 2 million cycles under a given load. Its aim is to ensure constant, high and reproducible quality for serial production.

1. Can I use the towbar right after it is installed in the car?

After assembly, you should go to a Vehicle Inspection Station to carry out a technical inspection of the correct installation of the towing hook. From then on, you can use it. Then, to complete the formalities, an appropriate entry should be obtained from the Communication Department within 30 days of the technical examination (in the registration certificate and vehicle card, if the vehicle has one).

2. Can every car tow a trailer?

Whether a given vehicle can tow a trailer is specified in the vehicle approval. This is confirmed by the entry in field O.1 or O2 of the registration certificate. The numbers entered therein mean that the vehicle is approved for towing a trailer and what the permissible total weight may be. If the car does not have the possibility to tow trailers, it does not always mean that it cannot have a towbar. Some car versions may have a towbar only for the purpose of mounting, for example, a bicycle rack on it

3. Is the installation of the towbar wiring harness necessary?

Yes. The electric harness in the set with the tow bar is designed to provide lighting in the trailer or bicycle rack. Its correct operation is checked at the Vehicle Inspection Station. There are bundles with the electronic module or the so-called simple harnesses, without a module, which are sufficient for some car models. In our offers, the sets include the right beam for the proper operation of the lighting.

4. 7 or 13 PIN harness. Which one to choose?

In our offers, towbar kits include a 7 or 13 pin harness. The 7 PIN harness provides the basic lighting of the trailer, i.e. position, stop, fog, and direction indicators. The 13 PIN harness additionally ensures the operation of the reversing light in the trailer. We recommend choosing the 13 PIN harness if the car will tow a trailer with a load capacity of more than 750 kg (with overrun brake) or to transport a bicycle rack. In this case, the Road Traffic Law requires the operation of the reversing light in the trailer registered for the first time since August 1, 2016. Using the adapter socket, you can change the vehicle socket from 7 PIN to 13 PIN and vice versa, but if the vehicle is equipped with a 7 PIN socket, the use of the 13 PIN adapter socket will not make the trailer's reversing light work.

5. Universal or dedicated bundle . Which one to choose?

The universal bundle of Quasar Electronics or TESAT can be easily installed in a modern car. During assembly, a small interference in the electrical system is required - solder into the appropriate wires (recommended) or use the quick couplers from the set. The advantage of the universal set is that it can be installed in various car models and the low purchase price.

Dedicated harnesses are equipped with connectors to connect to the vehicle's electrical system sockets, matching cables based on the technological pattern of the original part. The downside of this solution is the high purchase price and often the need to encode the vehicle system due to the presence of a dedicated beam (additional cost).

6. The principle of operation and the method of assembly of the universal harness with the module (short description based on the Quasar Electronics product model WH1R-G13-8).

Installation is simple and should not be difficult. To be sure, however, we recommend that the harness be installed by a person experienced in such works. The principle of operation of the module is based on the fact that through the "signal" cable it detects the voltage in the cable, e.g. after turning it on in the car, and then with another wire running from the module to the harness socket, it directs the voltage to the trailer's indicator light. The module, as it were, copies the operation of the vehicle's lights by turning on the twin trailer lights. Of course, the module must be powered by a constant plus. In order to properly connect the harness in the car, you need to connect the signal wires from the vehicle installation running to the module, i.e. Direction indicators, lights: position, brake, fog (and reversing in the case of the 13PIN beam). Then connect the wires from the module to the electrical socket (according to the diagram). Finally, you need to connect the module to the power supply (ie "permanent plus", preferably to a battery or other reliable voltage source). The lighting test should be performed at full load of the electrical socket, e.g. after attaching the trailer. Testing with a probe / meter or a not very advanced tester often gives erroneous readings despite a correctly connected installation.

7. How does the installation of the towbar in the car affect the operation of the parking sensors?

The electric harness in the set with the towing hook is designed to provide lighting in the trailer or the trunk and does not interfere with the car's reversing sensors. In such cases, the reversing sensors will notify you of the obstacle when reverse gear is engaged while the vehicle is towing a trailer. The signaling can be turned off with a button that disables the operation of the sensors or simply, with caution, ignore the signal while reversing the vehicle. Some universal harnesses with the module have the function of switching off the reversing sensors. However, due to the complexity of such a solution, we advise against their installation. In many more modern cars, it is not possible to properly disconnect the reversing sensors by the universal module. The vehicle control system reports errors after an intervention in the parking assist system. In very rare cases, the reversing sensors read the presence of a towball (some recent Citroen, Peugeot) as an obstacle. In this case, we recommend installing hooks with detachable balls.

8. Is the towbar approved?

All towbars from our offer have EU approval, which is necessary in order to obtain a technical examination at the Vehicle Inspection Station. The approval is confirmed by the approval plate (sticker) placed on the base of the electrical socket or on the hook bar. For the technical examination, you do not need the approval document, it is enough to confirm it on the rating plate.

9. Do I have to disassemble the ball of the towbar when not in use?

The ball of the towbar must be disassembled when it covers the license plate or the car's lighting. In other cases, disassembly of the towball is not required.

10. Who can install a towbar?

Basically everyone. You can install the set yourself or, for example, in the car service. The condition for obtaining a positive technical examination is the correct installation of the towbar and the wiring harness and it is not important who made it. Also, no documents related to the assembly service are required.

11. Which hook should I choose to transport a bicycle rack?

Each towbar that has approval is perfectly suited for this task. It does not matter whether the hook is unscrewed or detached.

12. Do I need to undercut the bumper to install the tow bar?

Information about the need to undercut the bumper can be found in the technical data section of the offer. The set with the towbar includes an installation manual with a template or the exact dimensions of the bumper undercut. In most cases, the undercut, if necessary , is located in the lower, invisible part of the bumper, in a factory prepared for it.

13. Are assembly instructions included?

Yes. Instructions and assembly diagrams are included with the towbar and wiring harness. We recommend that you read them carefully before installing.
