⭐ What is it and how does it work?

It is a adapter / module / dongle for CarPlay and Android Auto, which turns the factory wired CarPlay or Android Auto into a wireless version.

The phone can stay in your pocket, bag or holder, and you continue to use maps, music, conversations and voice on your car screen.

Important: adapter does not add CarPlay/Android Auto to cars that do not have it – it does the wireless version only when the wired version is running in the car.

❓ First installation

Connect the adapter to the USB port in a car that supports wired CarPlay or Android Auto.
Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and pair with the adapter (AIBox-BT-XXXX).
The rest happens automatically – the system will set up the connection and start CarPlay/Android Auto.

☝ Good practice: if previously the phone was paired with the car system directly, it is worth forgetting the old pairing in the Bluetooth settings of the phone and pairing again only with the adapter.

❓ How do I know if the adapter will be compatible with my car?

The most reliable test: if your phone runs CarPlay/Android Auto wired when connected with a cable to a USB port – Qerk® AX1 will work wirelessly.

❓ What exactly do I pair on the first startup?

You pair your phone with the adapter via Bluetooth (device visible as AIBox-BT-XXXX). After that, the adapter sets up the correct Wi-Fi connection automatically.

❓ Why does it sometimes help to "forget" the old pairing with the car?

If the phone has previously been paired directly with the car unit, the system may try to return to the old path. Removing the old pairing and re-pairing with the adapter organizes the setup.

❓ Does the adapter only work with one phone?

The adapter pairs with your phone and remembers your device. You can use it with different phones – sequentially, changing the pairing when needed.

❓ Does the adapter "add" CarPlay/Android Auto to a car that does not have it?

No. The adapter is not an Android box. It does the wireless version from the factory wired version - and that's it (but that's exactly what you need).

❓ Why can’t you watch video while driving?

This is a CarPlay/Android Auto system restriction for security reasons. This is not a defect of the adapter.

❓ What does liquidity and possible delays depend on?

First of all from the phone: its performance, system version, background applications, power saving mode. In case of problems, it helps to update the phone system and turn off aggressive energy saving. On longer routes, it is recommended to charge the phone.

❓ Does Wi-Fi 5/6 in the adapter require a Wi-Fi 6 phone?

No. The adapter is backward compatible with Wi-Fi 5 (ac), Wi-Fi 4 (n) and earlier – so it will work with the vast majority of smartphones on the market.
