Take the test:

Prepare: Ford's clean cup, stopwatch and paint at ~20 °C.

Fill: pour the paint into the edge of the gap, level the excess with a spatula or dip the cup in the paint.

Measure: Lift the cup vertically, press “start” and let the paint flow freely.

Read: stop the stopwatch when the stream breaks (we only count the time of continuous paint flow) – this is the time of Ford DIN (s).

The FORD#4 cup is included to measure the viscosity of your paint.

You're done! It shows whether the paint is too thick (time too long) or too rare (too short). In the manual there is a table what density should be. The gun supports liquids up to 70 DIN density

After completion of work:

Empty the tank from paint residues and rinse with water or mineral spirit (depending on the paint) until the stream is clean.

Dismantle nozzle, needle and gaskets; clean with soft-haired brushes and needles from the service kit so as not to scratch the cone.

Lubricate the seals with solvent-resistant silicone grease – this extends the life of the o-rings.

• 1,5 to 1,8 mm nozzles are suitable for azures and fence stains.
• 2,2 – 2,6 mm nozzles are optimal for acrylic and latex paints for exterior walls.
• The viscosity should be measured with a Ford cup; if the outflow time exceeds 70 s, dilute the paint with 5 to 10 % water or a suitable thinner, depending on the paint manufacturer’s instructions.
