How to choose the right nozzle for a paint sprayer?
Marking on the nozzle, e.g. 518, informs about two basic parameters:
The first digit (5) specifies the spray angle – in this case 50°, the last two digits (18) indicate the hole diameter – in this case 0.018 inches.
Multiplying 1 digit by 5 will determine the width of the stream (in cm) e.g. 5 X 5 cm = 25 cm (at a distance of approx. 30 cm from the painted surface).
The diameters of the hole are selected for the paint:
- 009 – 013 – soils, rare varnishes
- 015 – 021 – acrylic, emulsion paints
- >021 – silicone paints, large projects
