❓The sensor "howls" or shows the concentration of CO, although there is no smoke or combustion - why?

⚠ Common causes:

1) low battery – the sensor signals this with sound; replace the batteries with new, good quality;

2) the CO sensor reacts to real, imperceptible to humans traces of carbon monoxide (exhaust gases from the street, garage, fireplace, cigarette smoke) — this is the action as intended;

3) ending period of sensor operation. If after replacing the battery and ventilation the alarm still occurs for no reason, take it seriously: first exclude the real threat (air, leave the room), and if the device is still malfunctioning – report a complaint under the standard Allegro procedure.

❓Batteries discharge very quickly – what to do?

✅ Use new good quality alkaline batteries. Backlit LCD display increases power consumption – if the model allows, limit continuous backlighting. At low temperatures and with weak batteries, the service life decreases.

⚠ Short, regular beeps are a signal of battery discharge (necessity to replace), not a fault.

❓How to properly mount the sensor – on the ceiling or low?

✅ It depends on the threat and is crucial: the smoke rises upwards, so for smoke detection the sensor is mounted high (on the ceiling or just below it). Carbon monoxide is mixed with air, so the CO sensor is usually mounted at a height of approx. 1 to 1,5 m (at breathing height), a few meters from the source (furnace, fireplace, gas heater).

⚠ If in doubt, consult a chimney sweep or fire brigade and follow current guidelines.

❓The sensor did not react to smoke during the test / reacts slowly.

⚠ Response time and sensitivity depend on smoke type and density, distance from source and installation location.

✅ Test the device with the TEST button according to the instructions, not with real smoke (candle, cigarette) — different types of particles are detected differently. For complete protection in high-risk rooms, we recommend several sensors in different places and not relying on one device.

❓Is it a smoke detector, CO or both at the same time?

✅ This 2-in-1 device detects both smoke (photo-optical sensor) and carbon monoxide (electrochemical sensor). The LCD display shows the current CO level (range 0 to 999 ppm). CO and smoke are two different hazards, and the mounting height is a compromise between them – with specific requirements, consider separate sensors for each hazard.

❓The alarm seems too quiet to me.

✅ Alarm volume is ok. 85 dB up close — a typical value for this class. Mount the sensor where the signal will be heard from the rooms where the household members are staying (especially the bedroom). In larger homes, we recommend several sensors.

❓The sensor makes "strange sounds", crackles or after a few/several months shows an error.

✅ Short signals are usually information about discharged batteries – start by replacing. Error message or unusual sounds despite new batteries may mean the end of the sensor’s life or malfunction. Gas and smoke sensors have a limited lifespan – after it expires, the device should be replaced. In case of permanent irregularities, submit a complaint under the standard Allegro procedure.

❌ No. It is powered by AA batteries and operates independently, without electricity or WiFi – even in the absence of electricity, provided that the batteries are functional.

✅ Regularly (e.g. once a month) press the TEST button to check the audible and light alarm. Keep the holes clean (dust interferes with the measurement), do not seal them and do not paint the device. Replace batteries after the first discharge signal. Device for indoor use in dry rooms (10% to 90% RH humidity).
