Backlight color adjustment

Paperwhite 5 has 17 LEDs illuminating the screen, at 12 (! ) more than in PW4. A novelty is the adjustment of light color (from white to amber, 16 degrees scale). This is very useful when reading in a darker room. In the evening you can set a pleasant, definitely less tiring eyesight, warm color of the screen, which was not available in PW4. At maximum setting, the display is 10% brighter than its predecessor. This gives you even more comfort in reading books in all conditions. The backlight is useful not only in the dark, it allows you to increase contrast and improve readability even when we are in full sun. In addition, the reader is equipped with night mode, i.e. setting the white font on a black background.

The built-in battery allows you to use the device for up to 10 weeks without charging (in PW 4 to 6 weeks), assuming that we read with wi-fi turned off and light level 13. The reader charges from 0 to 100% to 2,5 hours. via USB-C cable.

Waterproof

The Paperwhite 5 reader is waterproof. IPX8 standard allows you to immerse it up to 2 meters for up to 60 minutes (in fresh water) and 0,25 meters for 3 minutes (in salt water). So you can freely use it in the bath, by the pool or on the beach.

Flat front

The reader has a flat front – the screen is on par with the frame, so there is no problem with sand and dust entering the frame and drawing the screen, which will definitely make it easier and more pleasant to use the reader, e.g. on the beach.

16 GB of memory in a very thin and light reader

Paperwhite 5 weighs only 205g and is 8,1 mm thick. 16 GB memory allows you to upload up to several thousand e-books. All books can be stored in your Kindle account in the cloud. More memory will also be useful if you want to listen to audiobooks. The reader allows you to adjust the style and size of the font, remembers on which page we finished reading and tells you how much time is left to finish the chapter or the entire book. Paperwhite 5 allows for 20% faster page turning compared to PW4.

Advanced work with text

Paperwhite 5 gives you the ability to take highlights and notes and navigate them efficiently.

One of the most powerful functions of the reader is the dictionary. We touch the word on the screen and immediately a translation or definition appears. We have free access to many monolingual dictionaries, e.g. English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, as well as dictionaries from these languages into English. It is also possible to upload a free English-Polish dictionary and the Polish Dictionary PWN.

The reader is therefore extremely useful in learning foreign languages.

Audio function

Paperwhite 5, like PW4, gives you the opportunity to listen to audiobooks from a reader. Simply connect via Bluetooth to your headphones or speaker. If you have an audiobook and an associated Amazon e-book, you can use the Whispersync for Voice feature, which allows you to switch between audio and text versions.
