Application

Electric duct heaters are designed to heat the supplied air in ventilation ducts of circular cross-section. They are used to heat air in heating and ventilation systems.

The housing and junction box are made of galvanized steel sheet, while the heating elements are made of stainless steel. The heaters have a rubber seal for an airtight connection to the ventilation ducts. NK duct heaters are equipped with two thermostats to protect against overheating:

- Main protection with automatic restart (start-up temperature from +50ºC). After cooling, the thermostat automatically closes the circuit. - Emergency protection with manual restart (start-up temperature from +90ºC). In the event of an action, the heater may be restarted after manually removing the failure.

Thermostat contacts are output to separate terminals to connect an external device. Each size of the heater comes in several variants with different power. Increasing the power can be achieved through serial installation of heaters. All three-phase heaters connect with each other according to the “star” scheme.

In order to automatically maintain the set air temperature, the NK...U option was created with a temperature control module (from 0,6 to 2,4 kW) or a control block (from 3,0 to 9,0 kW).

On the front panel of the junction box there is an electronic thermostat controller knob with a temperature range from -10°C to +40°C. The NK...U heater has a temperature sensor built into the channel. The heater is equipped with overheating protection – thermal switch with manual restart (nominal temperature value of switching off 60°C).

NK...U heaters have two thermostats to protect against overheating:

main protection with automatic restart (start-up temperature from +50ºC). After cooling, the thermostat automatically closes the circuit.

emergency protection with manual restart (start-up temperature from +90ºC). In the event of an operation, the heater may be restarted after manually removing the failure.

Operating modes of NK...U heater with control block (options): according to the temperature sensor to maintain the set temperature in the channel; maintaining the heater power in proportion to the external signal of 0-10 V (0-100%) using an external control device.

Setting the set temperature occurs thanks to the built-in potentiometer. An external control signal from the second controller with a voltage change range (0-10 V) can be connected to the regulator, which corresponds to the temperature in the channel (0...+40°C).

Installation

The design of the heater allows you to place it in round ventilation ducts with buckles. The direction of movement of the air must correspond to the arrow on the heater. Duct heaters can be set in any position, except for the position of the distribution board downwards (danger of condensation accumulation). It is recommended to set in which the air flow flows evenly throughout the cross-section. In front of the heater there should be an air filter, protecting the heating elements from dirt. The recommended distance between the heater and other elements of the system should be not less than the diagonal of the heating element in the flow part. The efficiency of duct heaters is calculated at a minimum air flow rate of 1,5 m/s and a maximum outgoing air temperature of +40ºC. When using a fan speed controller, it is necessary to ensure the minimum efficiency of air flowing through the heater. The heater cannot work with the fan off.
