The Philips Lumea device uses innovative intensive pulse light technology (Intense Pulsed Light, IPL) based on technology used in professional beauty salons. It has been clinically tested and developed in collaboration with dermatologists to enable safe and effective treatments to be performed in-house.

The IPL epilator illuminates the hair bulbs with gentle pulses of light, which stimulates the hair follicle to move into the resting phase. As a result, the hair naturally falls out and its regrowth is stopped.
