STEP 1 Pour a thin layer of oil over the pan.
STEP 2 Heat the oil until smoke appears, then remove the pan from the heat, pour out the oil and wipe the pan with a paper towel.
The pan will acquire a dark color, which means that a layer of carbon patina has been created on it, responsible for not sticking fried products to the pan.
Generations of master craftsmen, men and women have honed their craftsmanship for nearly two centuries to achieve mastery in their craft and adapt to new technologies and strict requirements while maintaining the traditional secrets of craftsmanship. Thanks to the extremely rich and unique in its kind of “know-how”, deBuyer has been representing the unsurpassed model of the master manufacture for 180 years and its highly qualified employees are the pride and reputation of the company.
The company currently employs more than 170 people, which are deployed in various departments and workshops.
And each of them is a true Master of “Maître Artisan” in his profession.
Your new product goes through many stages of production before it reaches you and your unique kitchen. Many people and many hands will work with full commitment to ensure that you and your loved ones are satisfied with the effect of this work and for many years enjoy the reliable functioning of perfect kitchen utensils handmade in France – the capital of culinary craftsmanship and the creator of good taste.
What is unusual, deBuyer workshops are equipped with a constantly developing machine park both with modern computer-controlled digital machines, as well as old, still functioning reliably machines on which they have been working for many, many years!
Blacksmith shapes the metal on the lever press. Forms shape with dexterous strokes and metal positioning in the tool. With each stroke, the plane is shackled, rolled and twisted. The master of blacksmithing flawlessly directs the position of the material, turns it hundreds of times under the press so that eventually a piece of raw metal becomes an authentic element of your kitchen utensils.
Press On the oldest factory press working with a pressure of 250 tons with an accuracy of 1/10 millimeter master – craftsman adjusts the forging process to the material used, creating parts that are processed by metal rollers. Each master has his own tool, and each tool has its own unique parameters.
Forging . With a precise movement, the blacksmith hits the welds so that any joints disappear. It makes surfaces perfectly smooth before polishing the material. It also hits sharp corners, joints, and welds to make them smooth and rounded.
), the master processes the edges to be regular and finishes the elements with deburring to soften the edges. Thanks to this, the pre-treated material is no longer raw and can be further processed.
The miller, from the previously processed block of raw material and vessel plans, the master miller like an artist sculptor will create a part that will go into the construction of a tool or machine. Depending on the complexity of the part to be manufactured, the milling machine uses a conventional hand machine or digital machining center, always with the same goal: precision and respect for the plan.
Lathe By cutting the raw material, the lathe produces cylindrical parts that will be used in the factory. Based on plans from the design office or from an existing product, the lathe shapes its part to an accuracy of 1/10 millimeter, using carbide cutting tools or high-speed steel to obtain the appropriate profile.
Rolling and forming. From edges cut to 1/10 ° mm with the help of universal tools, the craftsman will develop the product in the next stages. Metal can be bent, rolled or formed by hand on a stencil for a simple or complex shape. The digital machine can combine different shapes together to create more and more sophisticated products.
The grinder will transform the raw inner surface of the embossed piece to give it a structure that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional: the unique micro furrows formed by abrasion allow the fat to be evenly distributed during cooking or frying. For high-end products such as e.g. Prima Matera DeBuyer, after processing on digital machines, the craftsman refines the product by hand, applying a piece of emery to the inside of the product.
Polerka The art of polishing is to beautify the raw material. It is a work that requires patience, precision and knowledge. After applying the polishing paste to the cotton disc, the polisher adjusts its movement and strength to give the material a beautiful and unique shine. Manual polishing is reserved for the noblest DeBuyer products!
Welder The art of melting metals to combine them has many aspects: depending on the variety of shapes and requirements of each material, the welder adjusts his technique and process. Whether it is TIG, spot welding or arc welding, welding requires a firm hand, precise gesture and long hours of exercise.
Riveter The technique used in aviation to build airplanes or erect the Eiffel Tower is also used in DeBuyer! Robust durable and strong riveting is a guarantee of solid and durable assembly for years. The riveter adapts the rivet material to the material of the tool being manufactured, sets the elements in perfect alignment and presses precisely the rivet, which will connect the handles of your new vessel in an elegant way. Riveting is the last operation of assembling the polished part, so both during drilling and during fastening, the riveter must work with high precision so as not to damage the product.
Grawer Uses a modern and precise laser, in the last process of creating a vessel - to engrave products. Engraving uses a pattern, appropriate selection of lenses and perfectly mastered skills of selecting engraving parameters depending on the surface, it can choose between evaporation of the material or burning it on the surface. Master Engraving does the last production job with the product before packing. It is he who provides product personalization and manual signature.
Confectioner This profession has always existed at deBuyer. In the past, an ordinary sheet of paper was skillfully folded to wrap a product coming out of the production chain. Today, the confectioner has to deal with various configurations: labels, covers, parchment bags for dishes, boxes, covers and special product protection and user instructions. The packaging is not only to perfectly present the product, but also to protect and inform. Exceptional DeBuyer products are packed in individual boxes.
