How ECO mode works

When the child's room is quiet, the child's station goes into sleep mode and stops broadcasting. The transmission resumes automatically when sound is detected. Thanks to this, the device consumes less energy and the emission of radio waves during silence is significantly reduced.

Important: range control also works in EKO mode – both stations check the interconnection at regular intervals, so you will not lose contact unnoticed.

ECO mode turns on three times with a quick press of the on/off button. The manufacturer recommends activating it only after setting the parent station permanently in the place where the quality of reception was previously checked.

The expert’s eye – what to look for when choosing a nanny

The range of 300 meters given by manufacturers is always a value in the open, without obstacles. In a real house, something else matters: how many walls, what and what else it gives in the area. Reinforced concrete, large mirrors, refrigerators and metal doors dampen the signal the most, and a microwave operating on the same 2,4 GHz band can disrupt transmission. In practice, in an apartment, the real range is usually several dozen meters – and this is enough.

FHSS technology is a solution that makes a real difference at this price. The device automatically and regularly jumps between channels, making the transmission resistant to interference from other devices and virtually impossible to eavesdrop on – unlike older, analogue nannies that the neighbor was able to pick up on his own receiver.

It is worth appreciating two things that are often missing in basic models: range control and callback function. The former informs with a signal that the connection has been broken – without it, silence in the receiver can mean both a peaceful sleeping child and a lost connection. The second allows you to talk to the child without entering the room, which can be invaluable when teaching them to fall asleep on their own.

Tip: Position both stations vertically and as high as possible — this is the easiest way to improve coverage. Keep at least a meter away from your router, TV, and microwave. Even if you are powering devices from the mains, insert batteries: when the current goes out, the nanny will continue to work. And check the range at the destination before turning on ECO mode — the manufacturer explicitly recommends this order.
