The external input to the micro SD card allows direct recording without the need for a recorder. (for the camera, however, you can also buy a recorder with a disk and write to the hard disk). You can also record in a loop to an SD card, where newer files simply save to older ones.

Recordings are saved on the SD card in a loop, which means that when the card fills up, the oldest recordings are overwritten.
