Pulsoximetry is a modern, non-invasive and painless method of heart rate and blood oxidation testing. Based on the elementary laws of physics, it allows you to obtain valuable information about the circulatory system and more precisely - it is a non-invasive method of transcutaneous determination of blood oxygen saturation. The method consists in the principle of spectrophotometric measurement of saturation (so-called saturation - SpO2) with hemoglobin oxygen because oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin has different optical properties. At the same time, heart rate (pulse) is also recorded.
Measurement is made by applying the device to the index finger and pressing the button, the measurement will be read automatically.
Blood oxygenation (i.e. saturation) is marked with the symbol SpO2 and is given as a percentage. The correct saturation value in a healthy person is 93-99% - therefore it is worth having a pulse oximeter with you and constantly monitor this data.
