The CANT Z.1007 Alcione medium bomber, designed by Filippo Zappat, entered service in the late 30s. Twentieth century and was widely used by Regia Aeronautica during World War II. It was characterized by a wooden structure and a typical Italian three-engine configuration. More specifically, three 1000 HP Piaggio P.XI star engines allowed the CANT Z.1007 to reach a top speed of 450 km/h. The aircraft could carry 1200 kg of offensive cargo placed in the inner bomb chamber. The crew usually consisted of five people, and this number could increase to six after adding the operator-photographer to reconnaissance and patrol missions. This aircraft was mainly used in theaters of warfare in the Mediterranean, the Balkans and North Africa. It is often considered the best medium bomber Regia Aeronautica.
