Mikojan-Guriewicz MiG-19, developed in the early fifties of the twentieth century, entered history as the first mass-produced fighter aircraft to reach supersonic speed in horizontal flight. The experience gained during its design and implementation of pioneering technologies became the foundation for the development of the next generations of famous MiG construction office fighters.

The MiG-19S version (NATO codename: Farmer-C) was derived from the SM-9/3 prototype and has been in series production since 1956. This aircraft was characterized by the use of plate horizontal positioning, which significantly improved controllability at peri-sonic and supersonic speeds. These machines were widely used by the Warsaw Pact countries, including Poland, Czechoslovakia (where they were produced under license as S-105) and the USSR, as well as by numerous countries in Asia, Africa and Cuba.
