Telephoto lens SIGMA 70-20 F2.8 DG DN | The new flagship telephoto lens Sigma from the Sports line.
Dedicated to full-frame mirrorless cameras.
SIGMA 70-200 mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports has been developed for professionals and very demanding amateurs.
It offers not only high optical quality, but also very fast AF with the first dual HLA linear drive used.
Extremely efficient image stabilization up to 7,5 EV. Using the most advanced technology in Sigma, we have created a truly flagship telephoto lens model from the Sports line.
High resolution, image sharpness across the entire focal range
The optical design of SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports uses as many as 6 FLD lenses (with characteristics similar to fluorite), 2 SLD lenses (low dispersion) and 3 aspherical lenses, thanks to which the lens is characterized by high resolution throughout the focal range. In addition, the so-called. The “floating focus” system improves optical quality throughout the range, from minimum focusing distance to infinity.
New super fast dual linear "HLA" motor
The use of floating focus system is responsible for the fact that two groups of lenses responsible for sharpening move in opposite directions, thus reducing the movement of the lens by about half. In addition, the use of the proprietary HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) drive in each of the two groups of sharpening lenses enabled very fast and precise focusing, both in single mode and in object tracking mode. The AF system itself is also extremely quiet, allowing users to comfortably record videos without worrying about the noise coming from the lens design.
Record-breakingly efficient image stabilization system “OS2”
The latest OS2 optical stabilization algorithm provides an exceptionally high image stabilization effect of up to 7,5 EV for 70mm focal length and 5,5 EV for 200mm (based on CIPA guidelines). The lens has 2 OS modes:
– mode 1 is suitable for general shooting,
– mode 2 is ideal for panoramic shots of motorsports and other (effective image stabilization even when the camera is moved vertically or diagonally, regardless of horizontal and vertical orientation, thanks to which it is possible to capture the movement of the object without losing the panning effect).
Designed to minimize lens breathing
When designing this lens, engineers set one goal to minimize the effects of its breathing. The change in viewing angle caused by the offset of the focusing distance is almost imperceptible, which allows you to achieve a natural-looking focus shift when recording video. Based on the most advanced simulation technology, it was possible to minimize the effect of scars and sprites and provide extremely sharp and contrasting photos when shooting against the light.
Sturdy and durable lens design
The design of the lens consists of many types of materials ensuring adequate lens strength without losing low weight. The use of elements from different materials, including magnesium, CFRP*1 and TSC*2, in the right places resulted in lower weight and the same strength as in previous models, facilitating the versatility of using the lens in different shooting situations.
*1 Carbon fiber reinforced plastic, a lightweight yet durable material used in indoor and outdoor aircraft equipment, among others.
*2 Thermally stable composite, polycarbonate with a coefficient of thermal expansion similar to aluminum. Properties similar to metal parts help reduce lens weight while maintaining strength
Design with increased resistance to splashes and work in dusty environments
SIGMA ensures excellent build quality of all its lenses. Among them, SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS |
Sports offers not only high weather resistance when shooting in harsh conditions
but also better quality and durability thanks to the use of state-of-the-art materials. The latest optical and mechanical design improves lens configuration and internal structure, resulting in a much smaller and lighter body than its predecessor
(70-200mm F2.8 DG OS HSM). The lens housing is characterized by a "multi-material structure" that optimally combines such materials
like magnesium alloys, CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) and TSC (thermal stable composite).
The focal change takes place in a completely internally closed structure. Since the total length of the lens does not change during focal change, it can be easily operated both from the hand and when attached to the gimbal.
Both the lens bayonet, the manual focus ring, the focal shift ring, and all switches and buttons are dust and splash resistant* which prevents dust and dirt from entering the lens. Plus, the front lens is coated with a waterproof and oil-resistant coating that makes it easy to maintain your lens.
* Lens design is more resistant to dust and splashes compared to non-sealed lenses. The lens is not waterproof or waterproof. Be careful not to allow the lens to come into contact with a lot of water. The water inside the lens can cause serious damage and even prevent the lens from being repaired.
Quality and flexibility worthy of the Sports line
SIGMA 70-200 mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports has all the essential features of the unique Sport line from SIGMA. It offers high optical quality, mobility and flexible outdoor work, resistance to harsh conditions. The lens was manufactured at the only SIGMA factory in the Japanese city of Aizu. The lens is characterized by exceptional build quality, which combines reliability with practicality.
Numerous configuration options. To further accelerate AF work in the lens, the Focus Limiter switch is used, which defines whether the system is to look for sharpness in near or far plans. Jet is especially useful for spotter photography or close portrait and macro shots. In addition, the lens has three AFL* buttons to which we can assign any function offered by the camera. The AFL buttons are spread out in three places, making it easy to use them in any lens position. For the L-mount version, the SIGMA USB DOCK UD-11 can be used to control OS2 operation, or to individually determine the focusing distance in Custom 1, Custom 2 mode.
*Only on compatible cameras. Available features may vary depending on the camera you are using.
A wealth of features to support professional photographers
SIGMA 70-200mm F2.8 DG DN OS | Sports is the first zoom photographic lens SIGMA equipped with an aperture ring. It also has a "de-click" switch and an aperture ring lock. The lens is equipped with a focus limiter switch that allows users to limit the focus range when using AF as needed, allowing for quick and precise focusing. What’s more, it comes with 3 AFL buttons that can be assigned to your preferred functions using the camera.
Replaceable tripod socket
The lens body includes an Arca Swiss compatible magnesium alloy tripod mount. The tripod holder foot can be removed and replaced with other optional handles. The handle ring offers a click option every 45 degrees and is permanently mounted.
Lens system
