TTArtisan extends the Neo series with a new full-frame AF 85mm F1.8 Neo portrait lens. The design combines a classic 85 mm focal length, F1.8 brightness and autofocus with a small weight of about 335 g. The lens will be available in versions with Sony E, Nikon Z and L-mount mounts.

The 85 mm focal length is one of the most classic choices in portrait photography. It allows you to maintain the natural proportions of the face, comfortable distance from the photographed person and effectively separate the foreground from the background. The maximum aperture of F1.8 makes it easier to work in low light and allows for a small depth of field and soft background blur.

The TTArtisan AF 85mm F1.8 Neo was designed as a natural complement to the AF 50mm F1.8 Neo. Both lenses use minimalist design and focus on ease of use: the 85 mm design is devoid of additional mechanical controls, and focusing and aperture values are done electronically from the camera.

The lens is new - pre-packaged.

Design

The optical design includes 12 elements arranged in 8 groups, among which high refractive index lenses and low dispersion ED elements were used. Their task is to reduce chromatic aberrations and maintain good image quality throughout the frame. The eleven-leaf aperture supports the achievement of a smooth, aesthetic blur of blurriness.

The minimum sharpening distance is 0,8 m and the filter thread diameter is 62 mm. Despite its full-frame format, 85 mm focal length and F1.8 brightness, the lens retains a relatively low weight: depending on the mounting version, it weighs about 332 to 338 g. Thanks to this, it also works well with small mirrorless bodies and can be a lightweight solution for portrait, reportage, wedding or travel photography.

The nature of the image generated by the TTArtisan AF 85mm F1.8 Neo fits in the direction chosen by the manufacturer in the Neo series. Instead of striving only for the maximum clinical reproduction, the design offers a plastic, more organic drawing that is particularly well suited for portrait photography. Combined with autofocus and brightness, the F1.8 provides an affordable and versatile tool for both novice photographers and those consciously seeking a less sterile image.
