✔ The operation of the pump depends on the position of the float (up/down) thus on the level of the liquid that the device pumps.

When the float is held vertically upwards by a high water level, starts the pump. As the liquid level in the tank decreases (e.g. barrel, basement, pool), the float goes into a horizontal state and falls down, resulting in turning off the pump.
