X half creates new possibilities for creative expression and an amazing photographic experience.

FUJIFILM Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku,Tokyo, Japan | CEO: Teiichi Goto) is pleased to announce the market launch of the compact digital camera “X half” (model name:FUJIFILM X-HF1), the latest representative of the X series,which uses the unique, proprietary FUJIFILM colour reproduction technology,providing exceptional photos from a compact and lightweight body.

Inspired by analog half-frame cameras, the X half offers new creative expression possibilities and an amazing photography experience.

The “X half” camera is equipped with a rear LCD display perfectly adapted to vertical compositions, allowing you to take photos and record video in a vertical layout with an aspect ratio of 3:4. The 2-in-1*2 feature allows you to combine two photos or videos into a single composition still in the camera, providing richer ways to tell stories than with individual images.

The optical viewfinder refers to analog cameras, reproducing and at the same time improving the possibilities of creating characteristic images. X half has popular features of Fujifilm cameras, such as “Movie Simulations” or “Grain Effect”, which can reproduce the unique granular structure of analog images. New filters are also available, such as light leak or halation, which expands the range of creative possibilities for expression.

The lightweight design of our camera and its aesthetics evoke the charm of classic analog cameras in a compact, only 240-gram body. The small size and easy-to-use touch controls on the rear X half display mean that the user is always ready to shoot in any situation.

The new, dedicated “X half” application will also bring a lot of fun from viewing, sharing and printing photos. Connecting your camera to your mobile devices via Bluetooth allows you to transfer photos and videos to your smartphones, use different display formats, and transfer photos to your instaxTM Link*3 series smartphone printers.

We are also introducing a new analog camera mode that simulates the unique experience of film shooting. It will allow you to rediscover the magic and emotions associated with shooting on film, thanks to the optical viewfinder, the frame travel lever located on the top plate (which should be stretched after each photo) and digital photo calling in a dedicated application "X half".

Product Features

(1) New possibilities of photographic expression thanks to X half

• The X half model is equipped with a rear LCD display with a ratio of 3:4 and an optical viewfinder adapted to vertical compositions. With this camera, you can conveniently take photos and videos in vertical orientation, just like using a smartphone.
• The X half features a 1 inch rear-view sensor and a fixed-focal, non-replaceable lens with a focal length of 32 mm (equivalent to 35 mm) and F2.8 light, which guarantees high imaging quality in a compact and lightweight body. An identical focal length, like that of [Quick Snap] disposable cameras, allows Quick Snap camera enthusiasts to enjoy a familiar viewing angle.
• The camera allows you to easily create 2-in-1 compositions – this involves combining vertical photos and videos with the pull of the “cage travel lever”. You can also create 2-in-1*4 images using the dedicated “X half” application. The application allows easy and intuitive editing and allows, for example, to change the colors and thickness of the dividing line or to replace the left and right images.
• The “X half” model offers 13 Photographic Film Simulations*5, which provide a whole range of different color means of expression, including the “REALA ACE” simulation, which combines faithful color reproduction with dynamic tonal expression. The user has a choice of different types of photographic films for a variety of objects and scenes.

(2) New photographic experiences and the joy of creating inspired by analog photography

• “X half” offers three new filters inspired by analog photography: “Light Leak” (light penetration), “Halation” and “Expired Film”. The user is given the opportunity to obtain the means of expression previously available on analogue films via a digital camera, and additionally has at his disposal eight popular filters borrowed from the instaxTM series.
• The “X half” also features a “grain effect” filter, which adds a natural-looking photographic grain to the frames, making the shots resemble analog photos. The frame can be given a variety of granularity to affect the appearance of the texture of photos and videos.
• “X half” also has a new “Date Stamp” feature that allows you to place a date stamp in the lower right corner of photos and videos, just like on classic prints.
• There is also an “analog camera mode” that recreates the times of classic film cameras in the digital age. The user first selects the simulation of the video and the number of photos – nor can they view the photos taken until they have “snapped” all frames*6. Pulling the film lever on the top plate of the camera after each shot allows you to release the shutter on the next shot. After taking a predetermined number of photos, data is transferred from the camera to the “X half” application for digital calling, editing, viewing and sharing of the photos taken. After digitally calling images, contacts are also stored in the application memory.
• The application will also allow you to directly upload images to social media, print prints on instaxTM Link*7 series printers and order photo products*8. “X half” allows you to enjoy shooting, browsing, sharing, printing and creating.

*6 Analog camera mode can be cancelled at any time by double tapping on an additional LCD display. Shots taken until cancelled can be retained by uploading data to the X half app.

(3) Compact and original design

• Compact and lightweight, the 240-gram “X half” body requires no additional lenses, offering handy sizes and a low weight ideal for everyday use.
• The design of the product maintains the high quality of the X series equipment, while ensuring portability and ease of use. Recreates the appeal of classic cameras for film, offering e.g. Aperture ring, film travel lever and other controls that guarantee a satisfying tactile experience, reflecting the essence of traditional analog photography.
• The “X half” camera received a new user interface with touch support for two rear LCD displays. Smooth touch gestures allow the user to intuitively change shooting and film simulation settings, ensuring comfortable operation of this compact camera.
• The camera's optical viewfinder allows you to capture shots in frames exactly as the photographer sees them. When using an optical viewfinder, the user can take up to 880 photos and completely indulge in their passion, shooting throughout the day without worrying about battery life.
