The Sone WiFi Tuya/Smart Life IP65 liquid level sensor is a practical device for monitoring the level of water and other liquids in tanks. Thanks to 2.4 GHz WiFi communication and cooperation with the Tuya and Smart Life applications, the user can at any time check the current liquid level in meters and percentage on their smartphone, view the measurement history or set alarms to warn of too low or too high levels.

The device has compact dimensions of 80 x 80 x 41 mm and is equipped with two wires: a long sensor cable with a length of about 275 cm and a power cord with a length of about 90 cm. The AC adapter 100 – 240V is also included, so the sensor can be easily connected. Robust housing with IP65 protection class allows for safe use even in demanding conditions.

Thanks to the accuracy of measurement at the level of ±0,02 m and the ability to set alarm thresholds, the device provides reliable supervision and allows for easy automation of pumps and other devices connected to the application.

The Sone sensor has a compact design, making it suitable for most standard tanks and installations. Small dimensions make it easy to install, and long wires allow you to freely run the power supply system.

Installation

The sensor is installed at the top of the tank, in a pre-prepared hole. At the place of installation, a gasket is placed, which is responsible for tightness and stable embedding of the device. Then the sensor is applied to the hole and fixed with the included screws.

To make a hole you need a drill with a suitable drill – the diameter of the hole should be approx. 60 mm. It is important that the sensor is positioned perpendicular to the surface of the liquid and is located in the central part of the tank, which allows for the most accurate measurements.

Important information during installation

• The sensor should be mounted perpendicular to the surface of the liquid to obtain correct readings.
• It is recommended to install in the central part of the tank, away from the water inlet – this avoids measurement interference (so-called. pseudo-echo).
• Do not install the sensor too close to the walls of the tank or structural elements, as they can cause ultrasonic wave reflections.
• The interior of the tank should be smooth – without pipes, floats, protruding outlets or other obstacles in the measuring area.
• The measurement angle of the sensor beam is ±15° – there should be nothing in this range that interferes with the signal reflection.
• Minimum tank dimensions, e.g. : H=5m - D > 2,7m, H = 4m - D > 2m, H = 3m - D > 1,6m, H = 2m - D > 1,1m
• For mounting on a slightly curved surface, simply tighten the sensor with screws, avoiding excessive stress on the housing.
• If unusual or unstable readings appear in the future, it is worth gently loosening the mounting screws to reduce stress.

Preview and history

The sensor provides constant access to information about the liquid level in the tank in real time. In the application, you can check both the current reading and review the history of measurements in the form of clear charts. Thanks to this, the user has full control over the state of the liquid and can easily analyze changes over a longer period of time.

The application automatically converts the liquid level into a percentage according to the formula:(current level ÷ maximum depth) × 100%. Example: if the maximum depth has been set to 3 m and the current liquid level is 2 m, the system will display a result of 67% (2 ÷ 3 × 100%).

Alarms and settings

The sensor allows configuration of key parameters, which allow you to adjust its operation to a specific tank. In the application, you can set the mounting height and minimum and maximum values of liquids, as well as prepare pump control through automation scenes.

• Set the minimum – the value at which the empty tank alarm is activated
• Assembly height – distance from the sensor to the bottom of the tank
• Liquid maximum depth – maximum depth of liquid in the tank

Notifications – how to enable or disable them?

The sensor sends push notifications with low and high liquid levels by default. However, if the user wants to disable them, you can do so directly in the Tuya/Smart Life app:

1. Go into the app and open the sensor.
2. Click the pencil icon in the upper right corner.
3. Select Notification Settings.
4. Go to the Emergency Notifications tab.
5. In the Mobile notification bar section you can turn on/off: Lower level alarm – low liquid alarm / Full level alarm – tank overflow alarm

Pump control – how does it work?

Automatic control functions

The liquid level sensor has options in the application related to pump operation:

• Pump mode – allows you to choose whether the pump is to fill the tank - on (on-supply) or empty it - off (off-drainage).
• Automatic control – when it is active, the application itself manages the pump on and off based on the “min” and “max” thresholds set by the user.
• Pump switch – allows you to manually turn the pump on and off in the application. However, when automatic control is active, manual activation of the pump will be interrupted if this could result in damage to the device (e.g. when the tank is empty and the pump could run “dry”).

How do I make these functions work?

The sensor itself does not control the pump directly – an additional device is needed, e.g. smart outlet to which the pump is connected. In the Tuya/Smart Life app, create an automation scene:

• Auto – automatic work based on scenes.
• Manual – manual control in the application.

Pump mode:

• On – the pump fills the tank.
• Disabled – the pump empties the tank.

Pump switch – manual control of pump operation:

• Turn on (Start) – turns on the pump.
• Turn off (Stop) – turns off the pump.

For automation to work, it is necessary to create two scenes based on the “Liquid Level Status” depending on the function we want to perform:

• Pump mode enabled (filling): 1. Lower alarm - turn on the pump 2. Full alarm - turn off the pump.
• Pump mode disabled (emptying): 1. Full alarm - turn on the pump 2. Lower alarm - turn off the pump.
