Sone Smart One wireless liquid level sensor allows you to conveniently monitor the level of water and other non-aggressive liquids in tanks with a depth of 0.1 to 5 meters . The current level can be checked locally on the included LCD screen or remotely in the Tuya Smart app via 2.4 GHz WiFi .
The kit consists of an ultrasonic sensor mounted on the top of the tank and an internal display . The sensor and the screen are factory-paired and communicate wirelessly via RF433, so the sensor can be located up to 100 m from the display in open space. The display itself connects to your WiFi router and can operate up to about 50m from the router in an open space.
The device displays the liquid level in percent and meters , ambient temperature, alarm history and liquid level graphs. It is possible to set a minimum and maximum level alarm and an audible alarm with adjustable operating time from 1 to 60 minutes or turn it off completely in the application.
This solution will work, m.in : when monitoring tanks for water, rainwater or other non-aggressive liquids. The sensor requires a mounting hole in the tank and a constant 5V power supply . The device does not control the pump directly - an additional Tuya-compatible device is required to automatically control the pump.

On the screen there is the most important information:
- Pump operating status – on/off
- Pairing button and device operating status
- Network Connection Status
- Communication status with RF433 sensor – flashing means receiving a signal from the sensor, no backlight means no communication
- Current liquid level in the tank – e.g. 60%, 80% or 100%
- Ambient temperature or percentage liquid level displayed on the screen
The display communicates with the sensor via RF433, and with the application via WiFi 2.4 GHz. The sensor and screen are pre-paired and ready to go after setting up the Tuya Smart app.
Dimensions
The Sone Smart One sensor and gate have a compact design, making it easy to adapt them to different mounting locations. The small display can be conveniently positioned in your home, garage, or boiler room, and the long sensor wires make it easy to install at the tank.
Sensor
- Housing: 80 × 80 × 41 mm
- Sensor cable length: approx. 180 cm
- Power supply cable length: approx. 90 cm
Gateway / display
- Housing: 62 × 62 × 21 mm
- USB-C power cable: approx. 96 cm
Assembly
The sensor is mounted from the top of the tank and for correct operation requires the installation hole with a diameter of about 55 mm.
Assembly consists of:
- making a hole in the upper part of the tank
- placement of washer/mounting gasket
- embedding the sensor in the hole
- screwing the sensor to the surface of the tank
The long wires make it easy to install and connect the power supply in a convenient location.
During installation, the sensor should be positioned as perpendicular as possible to the surface of the liquid. It is also recommended to avoid installation close to the walls of the tank, inlet pipes and elements that may interfere with ultrasonic measurement.
Communication and coverage
The set uses two types of communication – RF433 and WiFi 2.4 GHz. Thanks to this, the sensor can work at the tank, and the display/gateway can be inside the house or outbuilding.
The sensor communicates with the gate wirelessly via the RF433 with a range of up to about 100 meters in open space. This allows you to conveniently monitor tanks further away from the building.
The gateway connects to the router via WiFi 2.4 GHz with a maximum range of about 50 meters in open space.
Keep in mind that walls, ceilings, metal elements and thick tank covers can reduce the actual range of communication.
What to do if the gateway doesn't detect the sensor?
If the gateway is not receiving data from the liquid level sensor, you need to re-pair both devices.
First, add the gateway to the Tuya Smart app, then:
- Open the device in the app and go to Settings.
- Enable the "Pair sub devices" option.
- The gateway will emit a beep, indicating it's ready for pairing.
- Gently press and hold the button on the liquid level sensor for about 5 seconds.
- Release the button when the green LED starts flashing.
- Wait up to 30 seconds – the sensor and gateway should connect automatically.
After successful pairing, the status "Bound" will appear in the app.
Important information during installation
The sensor must be mounted perpendicular to the surface of the liquid for measurements to be correct.
The best place to install is the central part of the tank, away from the inlets and outflows of liquids and other elements causing measurement interference (so-called. pseudo-echo).
Do not mount the sensor too close to tank walls, pipes, floats or other obstacles — they can reflect ultrasonic waves and cause incorrect readings.
The inside of the tank should be as smooth as possible and devoid of protruding structural elements in the measuring area.
The beam measurement angle is approximately ±15° — there should be no obstacles to interference with the measurement in this area.
Minimum recommended tank dimensions for proper operation:
- H = 5 m → D > 2,7 m
- H = 4 m → D > 2 m
- H = 3 m → D > 1,6 m
- H = 2 m → D > 1,1 m
In the case of mounting on a slightly curved surface, the sensor should be tightened stably, but without excessive tensioning of the housing.
If unstable or unusual readings appear, it is worth loosening the mounting screws slightly to reduce the stress of the housing.
The connection of the sensor cable with the power supply is not waterproof and should be in a dry and protected place
The gate/display is also not waterproof and should only work indoors.
Application home screen
On the main screen of the application, you can quickly check the most important information about the liquid level and the current state of the device.
The app shows:
- current liquid level in %
- current liquid height in meters
- temperature environment at the tank
- current status of the device
- alarm of minimum or maximum liquid level
- sound alarm status — the alarm can be quickly muted by clicking on the “Open Sound” / “Close Sound” option in the app
- history of recent events and alarms
- liquid level chart by day, month and year
If the set minimum or maximum level is exceeded, the application can send a push notification to the phone. This allows you to react quickly, e.g. when overflowing or too low liquid level in the tank.
Measurement and Alarm History
The app saves the history of liquid levels and recent alarms, allowing you to easily review past events and changes in tank levels.
Available features include:
- Liquid level graphs broken down by day, month, and year
- History of minimum and maximum liquid level alarms
- View of the exact time and date of the event
- Quick view of recent notifications directly on the main screen
The history function helps monitor liquid consumption, detect problems, and analyze tank level changes over longer periods.
Settings in the app
The application allows you to precisely adjust the operation of the device to the type of tank and your own needs.
Available settings include:
- Set Max — setting the maximum liquid level in the range 0 – 100%
- Set Mini — setting the minimum liquid level in the range 0 – 100%
- Alarm Time — duration of the audible alarm from 1 to 60 minutes
- Installation height — setting the height of the sensor in the range 0 to 5 m
- Liquid maximum depth — setting the maximum depth of the tank in the range of 0 to 5 m
- selection of automatic or manual mode for pump automation
- automatic filling function of the Hydrate tank
- function of automatic emptying of the Drainage tank
- Re-pairing the RF433 sensor with the gate
In the application, you can also quickly check the status of the sensor connection to the gateway and activate or disable selected automation functions.
Automation of filling and emptying the tank
The device allows you to create automations related to filling and emptying the tank using scenes in the Tuya Smart app. The sensor does not control the pump directly — an additional Tuya compatible actuator is required to operate, e.g. intelligent relay or pump controller.
There are two functions available in the application:
- Hydrate — automatic filling of the tank
- Drainage — automatic emptying of the tank
It is possible to set:
- minimum liquid level Set Mini (0 – 100%)
- maximum liquid level Set Max (0 – 100%)
- Manual or automatic scene operation mode
Manual mode
In manual mode, the user himself launches the selected function in the application:
- Enabling Hydrate activates the scene responsible for filling the tank
- Disabling Hydrate turns off the scene and stops filling
- Enabling Drainage activates the scene responsible for emptying the tank
- disabling Drainage disables the scene and stops emptying
Automatic mode
In automatic mode, the application independently starts scenes based on the set liquid level.
For Hydrate:
- when the liquid level falls below the value of Set Mini — the application will automatically start the filling scene of the tank
- After exceeding the set minimum level – the scene will be automatically turned off
This allows you to keep the liquid level above the set minimum value.
For Drainage:
- when the liquid level exceeds Set Max – the application will automatically start the emptying scene of the tank
- After the level drops below the set maximum – the scene will be automatically turned off
How to Create Automation Scenes in Tuya Smart
For the automatic pump control to work properly, create appropriate scenes in the Tuya Smart app based on the liquid level status.
Filling mode of tank (Hydrate):
- Lower alarm - turn on the pump
- Full alarm - turn off the pump
Tank emptying mode (Drainage):
- Full alarm - turn on the pump
- Lower alarm - turn off the pump
Thanks to this, the liquid level can be maintained automatically within the set range without the need for manual control of the tank.
Adding a device to the app
The device is added to the Tuya application via the WiFi display. The liquid level sensor does not connect directly to the WiFi network — it communicates with the gateway wirelessly via RF433.
To add a device to the app:
- Connect the gateway to USB-C 5V power supply
- Open the Tuya app
- Enable Bluetooth and WiFi 2.4 GHz on your phone
- Hold the button on the goal for about 5 to 7 seconds
- Wait for the device to go into pairing mode
- Add your device in the Tuya Smart app according to the on-screen instructions
The sensor and display are pre-paired, so in most cases they do not require additional configuration after the first startup.
If the connection to the sensor is lost, it is possible to re-pair the devices from the gateway settings.
