CONTROLLER OF WELDING MACHINE SZG1

The controller is used to automate the welding time ensuring repeatability of the welds performed. Thanks to the repeatability of welding time, welds are performed correctly, of good quality and of course they are repeatable, i.e. all in a given series are the same, of course, assuming that other welding parameters (e.g. electricity) have not been changed in the meantime. Welding time can be set in the range of 0,1 to 16 seconds.

Operation of the controller is very simple, on the right side we have a time range switch that we can set in one of three positions:

- middle allowing to set the time in the range of 0,1 to 1,7 seconds,

- lower allowing to set the time in the range of 0,4 to 8 seconds,

- upper allowing to set the time in the range of 0,8 to 16 seconds,

After selecting the time range with the switch, set the desired time with the knob on the left side of the switch. The time adjustment is smooth. After setting these parameters, you can proceed to use, of course, after connecting the driver according to the following scheme:

As you can see, the power supply of the controller (230V) is connected from the top right, while on the left from the top we have a connector built into the relay controller that controls the external contactor of the welding machine. From the bottom of the controller we have a button connector with which we start the welding process. The controller also has 2 LEDs: green means connected power supply and red means switching on the built-in relay.

The push button is a momentary (monostable) button with which we trigger the welding process. After pressing it, the driver will attach the contactor connected to it for the time set by the user. It does not matter for how long we press the button, the contactor will be switched on for the time set by the user. For example, if the “T” welding time is set with the knob, e.g. 3 seconds does not matter whether the button is pressed for 0,5 seconds, 2 seconds or e.g. for 7 seconds – always the controller will turn on the connected contactor for the set 3 seconds. This is illustrated in the following diagram

At the top of the above diagram we can see the input states (starting button) where "1" means pressing the button and at the bottom we can see the output states, i.e. the built-in relay. Always when the button is pressed, the relay is immediately switched on for the time "T" which we set with the knob. After the “T” time, the relay will be switched off even if the operator still holds down the button. Of course, the button should be pressed once! Because if during the countdown the “T” button is released and pressed again, the driver (when the button is pressed again) will start counting the time again as shown in the following diagram. So the time "T" is counted from the moment of the last press of the button (shorting the input in the driver).

To sum up, with typical use, we press the start button once, the controller will turn on the relay (the red LED will light up) for the time "T" and only when the controller releases the relay and we want to perform another welding, then we press the control button again. However, if for some reason during the welding we want to extend the welding time, you can press the button again and the welding time "T" will be reset and will start counting again.

A push button without voltage must be connected to the button input. Do not give any tension from the outside to this entrance! Of course, whether this button will be a foot button, manual or e.g. The end built into the machine does not matter to the controller.
