What should I do after installing the towbar?

After installing the towbar, you should go for an inspection, where the diagnostician checks the correctness of the installation and issues an appropriate certificate. With this certificate, you must report to the Communications Department to obtain an entry in the registration certificate.

Can any car tow trailers?

Yes, provided that the maximum laden mass of the towed trailer is stated in the registration certificate under O.1 or O.2. If the maximum laden mass is not specified, the car cannot tow the trailer and the tow bar can only be used to transport the bike racks.

Does an electrical harness be required for the hook?

Yes, an electrical harness is required to power the lights of your trailer or bike rack. In our kits, the beams are selected correctly for the vehicle model.

Which beam is the better choice, 7-pin or 13-pin?

The 7-pin socket beam supports basic lights (position, stop, directions, fog). The 13-pin socket harness also supports a reversing light, has a fixed plus and a trailer load option. The Polish market often checks the 7-pin beam, however, 13-pin gives us the opportunity to transport bicycle racks, caravans, horse trailers. If you are not sure that you want to transport only light trailers, it is always better to choose a 13-pin beam.

Universal or dedicated beam, which one to choose?

Universal harness is an electrical kit that fits most types of vehicles and is connected to the rear lamps with quick cable connectors or soldering, does not have ready-made plugs. Each beam cable must be connected individually. Often it may be necessary to shorten or extend the length of cables. Correct installation guarantees trouble-free operation. It is a good choice for people who care primarily about a lower price.

A dedicated harness is an electrical kit tailored to the vehicle. Cable lengths are always customized for your specific model. The installation instructions describe in detail the colors of the cables in the vehicle and in the electrical kit, allowing for faster installation. Dedicated beams usually have matching plugs, but this does not apply to every vehicle. Installation of a dedicated beam guarantees cooperation with systems in the car, such as: switching off parking sensors, braking mode with a trailer, better traction control. Interaction of the beam with the above-mentioned systems in the car may be associated with additional coding (beam activation).

What is the disabling of parking sensors?

Universal harnesses with the WH2S module (and some dedicated harnesses) can turn off parking sensors when reversing with a trailer or bicycle rack. Unfortunately, this feature is becoming increasingly unavailable in the latest models of cars equipped with the CAN BUS digital bus. Some vehicles are equipped with a button to turn off the sensors and thanks to it the user can manually deactivate the parking sensors.

Does the hook require approval?

Yes, each hook must have a homologation that allows it to be mounted and moved. in Poland, approval in the form of a sticker or plate, located on the hook beam or at the beam socket, is sufficient. No paper version is required. Every hook we offer is approved.

Does the hook ball need to be dismantled?

The hook ball should be dismantled in the following cases: If it covers the license plate, then when it is unused, it should be dismantled. Secondly, in some vehicles, parking sensors detect the hook ball when reversing without a trailer and let you know about the problem, despite the lack of obstacle. In the above cases, we recommend installing dismantled hooks instead of fixed hooks, screwed on screws.

Can the hook and beam be mounted on their own?

Both the hook and the electrical harness can be mounted on their own and no special permissions are required. It is worth bearing in mind that manufacturers suggest that these activities be carried out in a specialized plant. After installing the towing hook, you should go to the diagnostic station to perform a technical examination of the correctness of the installation of the towing hook.
