Thermal or thermal transfer printing?

The label printers we offer use two techniques to apply information to product surfaces. The choice of one of them depends primarily on the application.

Thermal printing, at which ink is transferred to the surface using heating, is a very universal method that works mainly for self-adhesive label printers. These are compact and mobile devices that are most often used in stores or warehouses. The main advantage of thermal printing is low cost of operation. However, labels are not as durable as the second method.

We are talking about thermal transfer printing, using special thermal transfer tapes, providing labels with resistance to harmful factors such as moisture, extreme temperature or mechanical damage. P

onadto in contrast to thermal printing – it allows printing not only on paper, but also on plastic or textile materials. Thermal transfer printers are therefore used primarily when labeling packaging intended for transport.
