Water in most places in Poland is characterized by high hardness (the content of calcium and magnesium compounds).

Water hardness causes excessive consumption of cleaning, washing and cleaning agents, as well as the formation of boiler stone, which causes losses of heat energy and shortens the life of heating and household appliances.

Softening water is based on removing the components that cause its hardness from the water. This process involves the conversion of calcium and magnesium ions (responsible for water hardness) into sodium ions. It occurs during the flow of water through the ion exchange resin. When the ion exchange capacity of the deposit is exhausted, it is subjected to a regeneration process using a brine solution. A good water softener can provide soft water for several years thanks to good quality ion exchange resin and systematically replenishing salt tablets to the device.

When installing the softener, it should be remembered that it is not a water treatment station, but a device for removing hardness. Therefore, we use them only on water supply intakes, in which water is devoid of other elements, such as iron, manganese, nitrates, nitrites, etc.
