Strip test for quick control of basic water parameters using a mobile application.

JBL ProScan is a 7in1 strip test that allows you to quickly control the basic parameters of aquarium water. It measures the 7 most important water parameters: pH level, carbonate hardness (KH) and general hardness (GH) and the content of nitrites (NO2), nitrates (NO3), chlorine (Cl2) and carbon dioxide (CO2). The test is designed for use in freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Proper water parameters are of great importance for the health of fish and plants. To ensure the well-being of fish, it is recommended to perform the test in a new aquarium every 2 - 3 days, and in existing longer aquariums once a week.

The pH level determines the acidity or alkalinity of water, which is of great importance for the health of fish, the ideal value is from 6,5 to 8,5. Carbonate hardness KH provides a stable pH value, values between 3° and 10° dH are generally recommended. General hardness GH has a direct impact on the health of fish, plants and microorganisms, the ideal value is from 6° to 16° dH. The NO2 nitrite level close to zero indicates that the filter is working properly and the water is safe for fish. The content of NO3 nitrates determines the “freshness” of water and the likelihood of promoting algae growth. Too high chlorine content of Cl2 is harmful to beneficial bacteria and fish. The right concentration of CO2 in the aquarium provides plants with a rich and lush growth.

Procedure:

First, download the free JBL ProScan-App to your smartphone (Apple iOS version 5.0 or later; Android 4.0 or later; and an autofocus camera). After launching the application, you will find out about the existence of functions that have not been in water analysis so far: quick reading of values, precise analysis and innovative technology;

For the application, you need a specially calibrated JBL ProScan Color Card. Tips and procedures are included in the application. The analysis can be carried out in the following compartments: “Sweet aquarium water”, “Garden stake” and “Water”. Choosing the range: "Sweet aquarium water" and "Water" the application calculates, as an additional bonus, the current CO2 content in the water, resulting from the current pH and KH values measured by the application;

By setting the result of the analysis regarding the range: “Sweet aquarium water” and “Garden stakes”, you will receive specific advice and tips on what JBL products can help you set optimal water values in a given case. By selecting only the “Water” range, you will only receive an overview of the results without evaluating the water sample and without specific directions.

Tips:

• Remove the strap from the package and close it tightly. Dip the strip in aquarium water for a few seconds, remove the strip from the water, shake off excess water and after approx. 60 seconds photograph, using the application, a bar compared to the color scale placed on the color card. Test litmus strips are sensitive to moisture, so the packaging should always be tightly closed;
• Analysis with analysis strips and ColorCard color card should be carried out on a matte surface, in bright daylight or bright light bulb. Avoid direct sunlight and light reflections and shadows;
• Always carry out the analysis as soon as possible after the indicated time. Subsequent or premature reading of the results may lead to false results, as the color fields on the analysis bars darken over time;
• When connecting to the Internet, you should take into account possible costs (depending on the Internet service provider).
