To choose the right towbar, it is worth starting by familiarizing yourself with the technical specifications of your vehicle. Information such as model, year of manufacture and body version will be key. Knowing these details, you will be sure that the hook will be perfectly matched to your car, which will ensure safety and comfort of use.

After installing the hook, can it be used immediately?

Not right away. Before the first use of the hook, an additional technical examination should be carried out at the diagnostic station. After a positive result, we can already use the hook, but you still need to go to the communication department within 30 days to make an entry in the registration certificate and vehicle card (if it is issued).

Can the hook be put on by itself and do I need to report it somewhere?

Yes, assembly can be done by any person with basic technical knowledge – no permissions or certificates are required. You also do not need to report the fact of assembly – it is only important that the hook is properly fixed and its electrical installation works.

What to do if the hook ball obscures the lights or the board?

In this situation, the ball should be dismantled, because covering the lighting elements or registration numbers is prohibited. However, if these elements are not obscured, there is no obligation to disassemble the ball after each use.

How does the beam with the module work and how to connect it correctly?

The module analyzes the voltage in the vehicle light wires and transmits them to the trailer, allowing it to be properly illuminated. In order for the system to work properly, the module must be connected to a permanent power source. During installation, you need to connect the wires according to the scheme – both those from the car installation and those coming out to the socket.

Does every beam fit every car?

No – there are two types of bundles: universal and dedicated. Universal are cheaper and fit many models, but require cutting and soldering cables. Dedicated kits are prepared specifically for a specific car model – they have appropriate plugs, but may require coding the vehicle system.

Can any car tow a trailer?

Not every car has that opportunity. Information on whether the vehicle can tow a trailer and what mass it can tow can be found in its approval – specific data can be found in boxes 0.1 and 0.2 of the registration certificate.

When to choose a 7PIN beam and when 13PIN?

7PIN is enough for simple lighting of light trailers. However, if you are towing a trailer with a GVW of more than 750 kg or are using a trailer with additional lights (e.g. reversing), 13PIN beam will be necessary. Note: When using a 13PIN adapter for a 7PIN socket, the reversing light will not work.

Will the reversing sensors work with the hook?

Sensors can detect a hook ball or trailer as an obstacle. In some vehicle models, there is an option to temporarily turn off the signalling. There are also bundles with modules that automatically deactivate sensors, but their installation can be complicated and is not always compatible with modern electronic systems.

Does the installation of the hook require cutting the bumper?

In many models, it is necessary to remove the bumper or its gentle undercut in the lower, invisible part. Detailed information can be found in the technical documentation of the hook manufacturer.

Is each hook suitable for a bicycle rack?

Yes – any hook with EU approval can be used to mount a bicycle rack. The only condition is that the design of the car allows the installation of such a trunk.

Do the offered hooks have homologation?

All available hooks have EU approval, sufficient to pass the technical test. Information about the approval can be found on a special plate – usually at the electrical socket or on the hook beam. There is no need to provide additional documents.

Do I need to remove the chassis cover when installing the hook?

In some cars, yes – covers under the engine or chassis may hinder installation and should be temporarily removed. Once the assembly work is complete, they can be easily restored to their place.

Can I install the hook in a leased vehicle?

In the case of cars leased or rented long-term, the installation of the hook requires the written consent of the vehicle owner – usually the leasing company. You should also make sure that there are no traces left after dismantling that may affect the condition of the vehicle when it is returned.
