The tools are forged based on the experience of many generations.

The technological process is strictly defined: steel (type CK-Swedish steel), is heated to 1200°C and then formed with a heavy press (500t press pressure). The tools are formed with a pneumatic hammer with an impact force of 150kg. Through such blacksmithing, steel molecules are compressed and thus the best product quality is obtained. The next stage is hardening of steel in oil with a temperature of approx. 800 C, after which it is again heated to approx. 400 C to eliminate possible stress.

Our tradition of hand tool manufacturing has existed since 1799 and continues to this day at Guttenberger Hammer in Upper Franconia, Germany.

The famous forge in the Franconian Forest, whose foundations date back to the Middle Ages since 1799, is owned by the Krumpholz family. Seven generations, traditions passed down from father to son, working as blacksmiths – to this day. The rich experience acquired over generations by the Krumpholz family reflects the highest quality of forged tools.

In the long history of the Krumpholz family, a characteristic feature has always been the cultivation of tradition and family life. This is what made the forge remain in the hands of one family for 220 years, and today three generations work together: grandfather Georg (born 1937), his son Claus (1965) and grandson Claus Georg (1989).

The Guttenbergerhammer plant has been owned by the Krumpholz family since 1799. The forge was founded much earlier and has been known throughout the area for centuries. After the Krumpholz family took over the forge in 1799, it was transformed into a tool manufacturing plant. The tradition of tool production is preserved and nurtured to this day, at the same time the range of production is constantly enriched.
