This is a very small double-sided synthetic whetstone for rough sharpening / pre-sharpening proper small tools.

Application:

• Due to granulation: 280 (dark side) for rough sharpening e.g. damaged, chipped or rusted blades and for a significant change in the angle of the blade / 700 (bright side) for proper sharpening - the preliminary stage during which we give the blade the right shape.

How to use:

• Stone before use is enough spray with water.
• When sharpening, the stone should always be on a flat and non-slip surface.
• Because the stone is deformed during sharpening, it should be rotated as much as possible. This will avoid a significant loss of material in only one place and will extend the life of the stone. In addition, it will ensure that the blade will always come into contact with the optimally flat surface, and thus increase the efficiency of sharpening.

Why is the granulation on the packaging different from the one in the product description?

On the packaging, the manufacturer gives granulation 180/400 in accordance with the European standard FEPA. In our store we use a uniform marking system based on the Japanese JIS scale to facilitate the comparison of different stones. After converting the value into JIS scale, the corresponding granulation of this stone is about 280/700.

What does this mean in practice? Both markings refer to the same stone and its abrasive properties – the difference is solely due to the use of a different measurement standard.

Why do we standardize granulation to the JIS scale? This allows you to choose the stone for a specific stage of sharpening and the expected effect, regardless of the manufacturer. This makes it easier to compare different stones and choose the one that best suits your needs.
