The gate controller allows integration with any gate drive and gateway and enables remote control of the gateway through the Supla mobile application. The device is adapted to be mounted directly in the drive. With a universal 12 – 24V AC / DC power supply, it can be used in a wide range of applications. By connecting signals from limit switches to the controller inputs, we receive information about opening and closing the gate / gate. The device is equipped with an RP-SMA connector, to which you can connect an external Wi-Fi antenna, and two opening sensors (included in the set).

Advantages of using magnetic sensors

Magnetic sensors have many practical advantages. The specificity of their operation eliminates the use of moving elements subject to mechanical wear, because the change of the position of the contacts is triggered by the application of a magnetic field. Even compared to switching elements via semiconductors, e.g. transistors, reed does not require supplying voltage from an external source.

Principle of operation of magnetic sensor

A magnetic sensor using a reed is an example of a contactless switch. The most important elements of the reed are movable contacts made of ferromagnetic. The offered magnetic sensor has contacts in the NO configuration (normally open) at rest. This means that in this state, between the wires constituting the sensor output, an electrical gap is created. The contact system of the reed is placed in a hermetically sealed housing, thanks to which it is effectively protected even from the most adverse weather conditions. Switching the position of the magnetic sensor contacts occurs due to the proximity of an external magnet, which provides a magnetic field constituting a switching stimulus. As a result of switching the reed, its contacts are shorted, which is manifested by the formation of a short circuit between the sensor output wires. Due to the phenomenon of hysteresis in ferromagnetics, in order to disconnect the contacts of the reed, the trigger magnet should be removed from it at a slightly greater distance than it is when shorting the circuit.
